The musician, whose songs "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" and "Sailing" topped the Billboard Hot 100, urged his fans to take the growing global pandemic seriously. Singer-songwriter Christopher Cross has been diagnosed with the coronavirus. The five-time Grammy winner shared the news in a lengthy Facebook post Friday.
"I'm sorry to report that I am among the growing number of Americans who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus," he wrote. "Although I am fortunate enough to be cared for at home, this is possibly the worst illness I've ever had."
The musician, whose songs "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" and "Sailing" topped the Billboard Hot 100, urged his fans to take the growing global pandemic seriously.
"For those of you who still do not believe the COVID-19 virus is real, or think it is a 'hoax' or part of some conspiracy, my advice to you is to understand right now that this is a deadly illness spreading like wildfire throughout the world," he continued. "PLEASE make every attempt to stall the spread of the virus."
After sharing a few tips on how people can help flatten the curve — including "follow the SCIENCE" and a link to the CDC's page about the coronavirus — he concluded his note with a reminder. "Wherever you are in the world, let's all be kind to one another," Cross wrote. "Only if we work together can we defeat COVID-19."
Since the spread of the coronavirus, there are more than 1 million known cases worldwide, and nearly 56,000 deaths. Multiple celebrities have spoken out about contracting and recovering from the virus; several musicians have also died due to complications from COVID-19.

I knew him when he was with a band called Heather Black. He used to play in Houston. Nice guy.

I think the worst one I ever had was in April of 1970, I spent 24 days in a military field hospital with bubonic plague. High fever, hemmorhaging under the skin, massively swollen lymph nodes and lots of pain. And I lost 65 pounds in those 3-1/2 weeks.
I am wondering how these various musicians, actors, politicians, newscasters, etc., get coronavirus.
Are they not staying hone unless business is essential? None of them are essential. They are not doctors, nurses, fire fighters, truck drivers, grocers.
Are they not social distancing? Do they not wash their hands?
It seems to me that if one is a public figure one would be ashamed to announce having caught it when the rest of us have limited employment and activities.
He just did a show in Mexico City this year, but I think the best is the 1986 Japan show on YouTube. Great that 30 year after having his big hits he is still working and employing others in that sector.

Singer/songwriter Christopher Cross was born Christopher Charles Geppert on May 3, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas. A self-described Army brat, Christopher’s father was a U.S. Army pediatrician who was stationed at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. in the mid-1950’s. Cross began his career in the music industry as a member of the San Antonio-based cover band Flash. Christopher signed a solo contract with Warner Bros. Records in 1978. His self-titled debut album was released in December, 1979. Besides featuring the hit songs “Sailing,” “Ride Like the Wind” (with backing vocals by Michael McDonald), “Never Be the Same,” and “Say You’ll Be Mine” (the latter has backing vocals by Nicolette Larson), the album garnered five Grammy Awards for Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s).

As Trump’s approval numbers continue to increase, maybe we’ll get to see some real high-profile leftists “test positive”.
I wonder why it is that so many of these people who were taking it “seriously” got it, and so many people who are NOT taking it seriously have avoided it?
no one knows the death rate because all we know is how many have died, but not how many have been infected and didn’t die, and without knowing how many have been infected and didn’t die, then we can’t compute a death rate …
That said, South Korea clearly has identified the vast majority of their ill. Their *floor* for a death/case rate is now at 1.7% (up from an earlier stated 0.4%), with 40% of the sick still to recover, their new cases having gone nearly flat about 3 weeks ago.
