Dad is 91, Mom is 88.
Doing all their shopping and trying to keep them at home.
I have found ‘old people’ get really cranky when you are trying to deny them freedom.
Hope I am as ‘cranky’ when I get to that age.

I think that "cranky" in old age is a defense mechanism.

Noticed that with both my parents.

I find that old people get really cranky when they turn old. The stereotype of the ornery octogenarian is dead on. I don’t get it. Why do people who were reasonable for 70 years suddenly become ornery and difficult when they approach or pass 70 years old? I don’t get it. I will probably be the worst one.

Are you isolating them from yourself? This is a question I have with my family.

My wife and I just had two friends die of the coronavirus, both in their mid-80s--took a trip to New York and came back infected.
