A few discussion points for today:
1.The scientific findings of HSD (health-differentiated social distancing) which were discussed in yesterday’s thread. To summarize - stop the social distancing/lockdown for the young and healthy - in fact the quicker they get infected the better, for purposes of developing herd immunity to protect the old.
2. Death count is overstated: As a fellow Flubro told me yesterday - people are dying WITH Coronavirus and not FROM Coronavirus. That is why the right hand side of the “curve” will be inflated relative to a normal viral spread “curve”.
3. Governments will use this to get more control over us - (see number 2 above - continuing a fake ongoing crisis is essential).
Do we see any evidence that we are, in fact, “flattening the curve”? It’s impossible to know what the charts would look like if we were not self-isolating, but I’m not sure I see the flattening we were hoping for. But perhaps I interpret charts poorly.
It’s very likely that reported death rates for causes other than Covid19 are dropping...they are not really dropping it is just that the deaths are being wrongly attributed to Covid19.
The statistics are wildly in error IMO.
1) How are you going to get the young and healthy to separate from the older people? A lot of the times they are in the same households. Or the older people need checking on. Even though young people recover, they still account for a lot of hospitalizations. Before you try to expose the 70% of Americans needed for herd mentality, make sure you’re not going to override the health care system.
2) The US Case mortality rate is now nearing 3% (2.7%). I know, yall don’t believe the case count. But the “known case count” is what it is. Where are the data backed estimations of the unknown case count. Until antibody testing is done, extrapolating annecdotal stores into mass uncounted case’s is just wishful thinking.
3) Most governments will be more than happy to return to normal for the tax revenues. Hard to fund personal pork projects in a lock down. But there are some cases where we need to look at strengthening protections. Use of cell phone data to track activity, and restrictions that were attempted that have no infection control basis arfe two such examples.

Someone with a co-morbidity (say, heart disease or diabetes) that they are managing all fine and well gets CV19 and it “pushes them over the edge” to the point they die.
We shouldn’t be “counting” that as death from CV19?
To me, that seems like “how to lie with statistics”. The person would not have died if they did not catch CV19. Quite some games being played (and I’m sure not just by the USA), it would appear..

This whole thing may just be feeding into this: Imagine the MSM wanted us out of our cars.All they would have to do to convince the sucker population is start breathlessly report every traffic fatality worldwide, along with those that survive but are seriously injured. It would “feel” like we were having a traffic death emergency.
And imagine some of us deniers showing previous years’ stats to try to convince people that nothing special is going on - and we are treated as heartless people that care about money more than people.

Report it as “From”, and the State gets full reimbursement from the Feds for EVERYTHING.
It is not the flu. It is a completely unrelated virus, for which we have no countermeasures, no vaccines. It is actually a killer cold virus.

That is a horrible idea. I cringed when I first heard one of Rush's guest hosts propose it, and it is no better when proposed here. How do you propose to protect infants, the elderly, and the various groups with chronic diseases while the "young and healthy" purposely infects themselves? And what about the deaths in the "young and healthy" age group? Herd immunity is safely achieved with a vaccine--which we don't have yet.

The distinction between "with" and "from" is artificial in this context. An asthmatic or diabetic who gets Covid-19 and dies is not someone "dying with" Covid-19 just because they had asthma or diabetes. Ditto for any other condition that a person is fighting who then loses the fight because Covid-19 came along. The fact is that Covid-19 is especially deadly to people with chronic conditions. The death rate is now over 5%, as determined by the number of people who get Covid-19 infections and die.

FYI, where infectious disease is concerned, the liberty of those infected has always been curbed in the interest of protecting the population. In the 1917-1919 H1N1 influenza pandemic, the government shut down public gatherings and limited people's movements. Unfortunately, back then, the measures were implemented late, and almost a million people still died in the US. Including my step-grandmother, when my stepdad was only 2 years old. Typhoid Mary was imprisoned to prevent her from spreading typhoid; she was a carrier who never displayed symptoms. Houses of polio victims were placed on strict quarantine, in which the inhabitants were not allowed to leave nor receive visitors. Etc. History abounds with examples of where public health considerations outweigh individual liberty.
If you want to see where government will get more control, look at the "stimulus bill" the democRATs are trying to impose. It is full of measures to deprive us permanently of our liberties. The pandemic will pass, but the democRAT power grab is forever.

Question for fellow flu bros. Why does every public official have a sign language interpreter present when they speak? First of all, are there really that many deaf people? Secondly, this is not 1970; every TV today has closed captioning.
Maybe it is because they are on the govt payroll and they have to put them to use at some point?
