I joined Facebook when it was still college students only. The next year it was available to everyone, and I dropped it maybe three years ago. I check it rarely, when I really need to get a hold of someone or get a hold of a charity/animal shelter.
My friends from high school, many of them, blocked me when I voiced my beliefs on my feed. I no longer have any contact with them, which is a shame; my Dad graduated from the same high school in 1973, and he still has his friends, despite political differences. The friends who blocked me are essentially Socialists; the rest of my friends, whom I see now, are right-Libertarians or Conservatives. One is an admitted Commie, but loves the second amendment. Go figure.
I have Twitter, but don’t use it. I don’t do Instagram, and definitely NOT TikTok.
My advice - keep talking. Keep posting. Screw the idiots. We will see who is proven right. If you are proven right, those who castigated you will say nothing. If they are proven right, being a conservative, you will graciously admit you were wrong and go about your business. Never let the bullies silence your truth.
I’m like the 7-UP of facemash. Never had it. Never will.
It seems if you have a different opinion about the economy and the coronavirus you are considered an idiot
That’s much like it is here on FR.
I have found the best stress-reliever for me, is to type a big, long-winded, snotty reply to a poster - and then just delete it. I’ll take everyone’s thanks for my contribution to FR’s sanity, now. :)
I use it to keep in touch with friends and family. I don’t ‘do’ politics there, so no problems.
It’s a free tool. You don’t have to be. :)
I left 5 years ago and never looked back. Terrible waste of time.
Yeah. I decided today I am not buying this effing hype. This is crazy!!
See my tagline.
Come on over to MeWe and have a look see.
I find it irritating.
You have to be on one side or the other. Either you have to think everyone is going to die, or you have to be someone covering your ears and eyes.
Rarely is there reasoned discourse for people not at the extremes.
Well I put stuff on facebook all the time about the same subject They quit yelling at me cause I yelled back at them and hit them with statistics..
Imagine... FreeRepublic and Facebook being so similar?
Welcome to the new "normal".
I’m finding the current situation a good way to weed out my so-called “friends” on FB...
When i joined Facebook I started searching out old friends and hooked up to some I hadn’t seen in 50 years. One guy I hadn’t seen since I was stationed at George AFB Victorville Calif. 1970. I asked for his friend ship and he answered right away. Another was friend from Tan Son Nhut Vietnam 1968-1969. He got a hold of me. I found a lot of old school friends on facebook.. I am a conservative and live in Washington State.
That’s just bad manners. Another epidemic among phone addicts.
Using it at a dinner table to me is the most boorish act imaginable. One person starts doing it, then that creates a lull in the conversation, and then all the insecure people start doing it to show they have plenty of friends outside of this sorry group, and before you know it there are 4 out of 7 people reading their phones.
It has nothing to do with Facebook. You just have to be the master. Edit your feed by blocking people who burn your wick.
Wow... a new normal indeed. That shopping cart looks so clean!
Banned for hate speech for calling the Coronavirus as the Wuhanic Plague.
Most mobile APP development requires Facebook for avatars, FacebookID etc... sucks.
That first week was crazy! Glad it's calmed down considerably since then!
