And we can challenge it using the ebola quarantine lawsuits.

Kaci Hickox’s settlement agreement with Christie Administration creates quarantine ‘Bill of Rights’ that can serve as a model for all states

You’d have to be arrested or file a lawsuit.

I don’t see the point in filing a federal lawsuit unless you ask for a Temporary Restraining Order and Preliminary Injunction, that will give you relief right away. By the time the slow-grinding wheels of justice get around to dealing with your case on a normal trial calendar, of which there aren’t any because the courts are crawling even slower now, the lock down will be over.

We no longer live in the American Republic governed by the constitution. Just as in the recent coup attempt, the courts would immediately dismiss the case for some reason or another.

At this point the courts are crooked and simply write whatever policy they want into legalese and point to some tortured version of the commerce clause or something similar to justify any policy they please.

Use the $500 for something you want.

I predict you will only create a modern court precedent that government can do this. Backing up the quarantine precedents that already exist dating back to 1663.

You need to pick your battles, and file a lawsuit when a government tries this and there is NOT a clear and present danger such as COVID-19.

Example: The governor’s power in Wisconsin. Each state spells it out differently.

The only one that can overturn a president’s power is the congress according to the emergency powers act of 1974.

“It only costs $500.00 to file a federal lawsuit. Anyone wants to chip in?”

Who is your lawyer?

What is the lawsuit to claim?

What precedents exist for that claim?

Give it a break already. These lockdowns are going to keep the death toll DOWN to 100,000 to 240,000. Without those efforts we were looking at 1 - 2 million deaths. If you file lawsuits you are wasting government resources and people, forcing them to take their eyes off the ball, and contributing to death of innocents.

You may not agree with me but this is a public health crisis and not a political crisis which is why I believe no one is challenging this. Most people believe (rightly or wrongly) that at this moment stopping a public health crisis and people disregarding public health guidelines requires a gentle but firm hand. If everyone acted responsibly there would be no reason to impose any restrictions. Again, it's the idiots that ruin it for everyone.

If it becomes a political crisis beyond the life of the covid-19 then there will be problems.

We'll have to see what happens after this. Do we return to normal or do we have a "new" normal and what does that "new" normal entail?
