Zaandam cruise ship still has no guaranteed port for sick passengers as Trump, Florida officials discuss plans
The Washington Post ^ | March 31 | Hannah Sampson and Josh Dawsey

On Tuesday, authorities in Broward County, Fla. — where the cruise ship with four dead and two in dire need of medical attention hopes to dock this week — said a plan presented by owner Carnival Corp. does not yet address all their concerns.

A representative for the U.S. Coast Guard said the Zaandam and an accompanying ship would not be allowed to enter U.S. waters without submitting “a complete plan for self-support of the medical issues occurring on board the vessels.”

At a meeting Tuesday, Coast Guard Capt. Jo-Ann Burdian said a “unified command” — a group of local, state and federal agencies — was looking to get concerns addressed and reach unanimous consent for the ships to dock.

But as has been pointed out here, there were issues prior to March that indicated that traveling on a cruise ship was risky.

That certainly would apply to taking a cruise to China or the far East, but this Zaandam cruise in early March was in South America and the Caribbean- a long way from the far East, and China.

Those Zaandam cruisers are Victims of bad timing and a worldwide panic over the coronavirus.

There should be a decision on what to do with them today. -Tom

I just looked at cruise tracker and there are approx. 20 cruise ships at sea in the south Florida area.

The Zaandam and Rotterdam are near Havana Cuba, and should be close to Port Everglades late this afternoon, or tonight

Myself I will be back on FR in a couple of hours, hang in there. -Tom

These ships can drop off the Americans and take the foreigners back to their countries. It's the least these floating petri dish can do...

YES TO AMERICANS GETTING OFF THE SHIP... NO TO THE FOREIGNERS... THE SHIP CAN SAIL THEM HOME. Back to where they live... which is NOT Florida...

Jut saw on Fox News Gov. DeSantis is in favor of getting the Floridian Americans onboard, to come ashore.

No plan yet on what to do with the foreigners and non Floridian Americans. -Tom

Trump mentioned today at the presser, that the Canadians and the Brits were coming to get their citizens, and return them to their home country. The Americans will be evaluated here. That is all I have 😶
