The Food and Drug Administration issued an emergency authorization for a pair of anti-malaria drugs to treat COVID-19 patients.
The authorization will allow for 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate and one million doses of chloroquine phosphate to be donated to the strategic national stockpile.
According to the FDA, the drugs would only be distributed and prescribed "when a clinical trial is not available or feasible."
UNM Hospital said it expects to have a supply of the anti-malaria drugs soon.
While there is still no approved treatment for COVID-19, the department said anecdotal reports suggest the drugs may offer some benefit.
But there are still some risks. The Mayo Clinic issued a warning, saying doctors need to screen patients for potentially fatal arrhythmia.
"What we wanted to bring attention to is the issue of drug induced sudden cardiac death," said Dr. Michael Ackerman.
The FDA insists clinical trials are needed to "provide scientific evidence that these treatments are effective."
UNM Hospital announced it will begin two clinical trials this week, in hopes of finding a cure for COVID-19.
Their little stooge Dr Fauci, has failed in his attempt to stonewall & stop the cure from America.
The authorization will allow for 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine sulfate and one million doses of chloroquine phosphate to be donated to the strategic national stockpile.

Wow...Im glad the 30 to 1 ratio between the two drugs is in favor of Hydroxychloroquine (which has fewer side affects and complications) instead of in favor of Chloroquine Phosphate,
Good news is pouring down on our President now.
Of courses it's nothing like when people post 'hey I had a great idea!'
Proceeding to read article thanks for posting!
Good, because I have a very bad premonition of the test results from NYC.
I believe they (NYC) are going to screw with the results to make this drug look as bad as they can, up to, and including, the deaths of patients.
MLG greatly saddened ping

Yep, there is a HUGE amount of money depending upon the results from these trials.
There are many, many ways to affect and/or slant these studies...either intentionally or unintentionally. Selection bias, randomization bias, allocation bias, performance bias, detection bias, attrition bias and reporting bias can easily be introduced into the study.
IMHO, bias has already been introduced into the New York study by limiting it to hospitalized (i.e., the disease is more progressed) patients. I understand why they may have done that (more control over administration of the drugs and easier access to patient observation) but it certainly doesnt encompass the full range of patients for whom treatment with the drug cocktail may be appropriate.
MLG does not get along with UNM. Of course, they would be open to a trial of this treatment.
The article is out of date. FDA approved that drug for Coronavirus treatment today.
YW
I have been wondering how the New York trials would be screwed up. That would be one way to do it.

That's what the FDA said.
Dear FDA, Go to your clinical trial file cabinet and pull out your copy of the results of the clinical trials completed years ago on these drugs when you initially approved them. Then search for the subsequent reports that told you the original clinical trials were full of crap. If you cant find the subsequent report then your initial judgment was correct and is still in effect. The only sane reason to want new trials is to keep your people occupied and a lot of bureaucrats employed.
The University of Minnesota has a 1,500 person study underway on the prophylactic value.
That’s right, I read that earlier and forgot.
No, I’m not Biden!
Did anybody tell that dingbat woman in michigan this?
I'm assuming 'yeah whitey' :-)
UNM is the University of New Mexico.
