Mail goes into old Kroger bags and sits in the garage for a few days. Noting mailed to me is so important it can’t wait for 3 days to be opened. Doing the same on Amazon deliveries.

We do the same.

Ya, that will unfortunately add to the overall tally, but those numbers should be also on a hopeful decline?

South Korea update

with 5-10 new deaths and around 100 new cases for days and days

the fatality rate is now up to 1.59%

not good news for the Bros who once worshipped its widespread testing and 1/2 percent death rate

(not understanding that the some of the backlog in hospitals would pass)

New York - Emergency Hospital Being Constructed in Central Park

There is an operation underway to build an emergency hospital inside Central Park.

Sunday morning, trucks filled with equipment and supplies parked along 5th Avenue, and workers with the North Carolina based Christian organization Samaritan’s Purse began constructing a 68-bed emergency field hospital across from Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Elliott Tenpenny, the team leader of this field operation, tells NY1 state officials approved the plan after Mount Sinai Hospital reached out for assistance.

The field hospital will be composed of a respiratory care unit with ICU capability. Dr. Tenpenny said highly trained doctors and nurses with experience in infectious diseases will be deployed on a rotating basis.

ah so. I haven’t looked at Japan, but Singapore, SK and Hong Kong are using cell phone tracking, facial recognition AI software, bank tracking, cameras on every corner and actual wristbands to enforce quarantines. Not sure if that exactly counts as traditionally ‘culturally superior’ or traditionally culturally oppressed.

LA

Hundreds gather at Louisiana church, flouting coronavirus ban
Published: March 29, 2020 at 4:44 p.m. ET
By Associated Press

CENTRAL, La. — Hundreds of people flouted Louisiana’s COVID-19 ban on gatherings, coming on buses and in personal vehicles to the first of three Sunday services at their church a day after New Orleans police broke up a funeral gathering of about 100 people.

An estimated 500 people of all ages filed inside the mustard-yellow and beige Life Tabernacle church in Central, a city of nearly 29,000 outside Baton Rouge.

More than 3,500 Louisiana residents have been diagnosed with the disease caused by a new coronavirus, and more than 150 of them have died, according to state figures released Sunday. Deaths include that of the first federal prison inmate — a man with “serious preexisting conditions” who was being held in Oakdale, Lousiana, the U.S. Bureau of Prisons said Saturday.

Citizens coming back from business trips to China, starting with a businessman returning to SeaTac Airprot in Seattle is well documented as the #1 source of Coronavirus in the US.

Citizens coming back from vacation cruises is the big volume source of Coronavirus entering the US.

Non-citizens, neither legal nor illegal, had much to do with this one. Sorry. But don’t let the facts get in the way of a good rant. You could be just like the leftists.

And, I agree....about this not being good news for the FBs.

Not good news, in general.

The deaths numbers are baked into the cake for at least the next few days. What we need to focus on is looking for a decrease in the new cases. While the rate of the increase is going down somewhat, because the base is larger, we'll see increasing new cases for a while. Today might come in between 30,000 and 44,000. Hope it's lower.

That was my point, that over the past 3 days, the increase in new cases each day has been significantly slowing, and a continuation today would look like a significant trend. 30K-44K new cases would be a 50%-100% + increase day/day, and not a good sign at all. I'll consider anything under 21K a hopeful sign, but it's one day, and we have seen how these numbers can change quickly.

I agree the deaths are pretty well baked in to the case numbers until we implement a treatment protocol that changes those outcomes.
