I disagree. Everyone tacitly agrees to the possibility of getting a socially transmitted disease every time we leave the house. There are plenty of social diseases out there that can kill or can maim you every day of every year, yet governments do not shut down all of society to protect against them. The flu is just one example and people agree to getting the flu each and every year by leaving their house or not wearing protective clothing.
This year’s flu, COVID-19, is just a more virulent version than previous years. But make no mistake, the yearly flu has previously killed tens of thousands each year yet governments did not shut down society for those versions of the flu.
I was trying to put across in my last post is there is an inherent weighing between individual rights versus group rights and neither is absolute.
