You also need to have a tight seal around the face to prevent leakage. Most importantly, the head needs to be held properly with the jaw thrust open to ensure that the air goes into the lungs, not into the stomach. Good try though

The face shield is like a gas mask. It fits tightly around the face sealing it. Air is pumped in and then extracted. At first you feel like you are suffocating. But after awhile you get use to it The only discomfort is the tightness of the mask around the face. when you sleep you are restricted in head movement. Best position is flat on your back. I had to use one when I had water buildup on my lungs until the lungs were drained of the fluid. Had fluid drained two times, Once in Jan and the other in Feb of the same year. But they could not drain the lungs completely as they might collapse. This fluid also caused my shortness of breath.
