Hubby was in ICU March 8-11. Diabetic Acid Ketosis. NOT C.V.!

My wife had a severe seizure and DKA on Aug 26, 2019. It was then that she was reclassified a Type 1 diabetic. Since then, she has added a Dexcom G6 continuous glucose monitor and a Tandem TSlim-2 insulin pump to manage her blood glucose. She upgraded her finger stick meter to one that does both glucose and ketones. Both are monitored carefully to make sure she doesn't land in the danger zone again.

Two new seizures on Feb 23 culminated in a diagnosis of epilepsy. The anti-epileptic medication has had the beneficial side effect of making her sugar control much better.

He has been type 2 for long time. 10-15 years. Controlling it with diet, exercise, and drugs. Now he is on insulin.

you said” one that does both glucose and ketones. Both are monitored carefully to make sure she doesn’t land in the danger zone again.” I will ask him if he heard of that. He has appointment scheduled with an endochrinologist April 1 and I will have him ask about that then. It is a video appointment. Intersting.
