Sadly the people of Nevada and Michigan are not invited. Their deranged governors would much rather see them die than allow anything that could be interpreted as a Trump victory.

...as long as you don’t live in a liberal state that is banning its use.

Eighty patients?

Obviously statistics take no part in this.
There are 7.53 billion (2017) people on this planet as of three years ago and this author believes that this study might be valid?

Thank God the odds of getting it are almost zero.

1 percent of 330 million is 33 million.

1 percent of that is 3.3 million.

1 percent of that is 330 thousand.

I think we’re good.

governors and mayors who refuse to use these meds should be charged with negligent homicide- There is enough evidence emerging that the drug saves lives- and is very effective- that we should be rapidly be doing these trials all over the US to prove how effective and safe it is, and to get it to the people in the direst need- those dying of this virus- There is no legit reason to withhold it from folks that are dying from this virus at this point- evidence is coming in from all over the world and in many places here in the US- The drug is saving nearly everyone that it’s being used on who were on their way out-

Yes, develop other drugs WHILE this one is being used in ‘trials’ (of everyone that is very sick)- but these other drugs will take a very long time to approve because they were not on the market and preapproved- Hydroxy has a long history of effectiveness-

Again- every mayor and gov who refuses to allow the use of it- out of sheer spite against Trump- should be held criminally accountable

So are the French going to be bold (smart) enough to give this to all in France? Or at least to those exposed?

What’s the date of the paper? Isn’t this the same study that made a big splash LAST WEEK??

Don’t know if Edwards is liberal enough to ban it, but he should’ve closed every road out of NOLA a week and a half ago.

From the studY

Other studies have pointed out that drug repurposing may identify approved drugs that could be useful for the treatment of this disease including, notably, chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, as well as anti-diabetics such as metformin, angiotensin receptor inhibitors such as sartans, or statins such as simvastatin

I'm taking both metformin and simvastatin.

Some Harvard PHD .....of note admittedly....said it didn’t do squat....

https://www.forbes.com/sites/williamhaseltine/2020/03/25/study-shows-hydroxy-chloroquine-is-ineffective-against-covid-19-—so-what-now/#b6aea5409bef

The test seems sorta weird ....as in what was severity

30 folks

Give 30 folks with mild symptoms

Half placebo

Half hydroxchloroquine

In five days both tests groups are fine ...no difference

Well

Not sure politics of the guy who wrote this....that skews science today sadly ...every time

How could you have Skunk Works today...

This test was a valiant effort, but didn’t appear to change from the norm.

https://www.mediterranee-infection.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/COVID-IHU-2-1.pdf

Of the 80 that were in a sterile location that was available to them, 28.8% were over 60. There were 51 chronic conditions in the mix, and not identified as one per so it has to be evaluated as possible multiple and any of the ages.

Of the 80 tested 12 required oxygen therapy, 3 were transferred to ICU, 1 death, and currently there are 14 being hospitalized still (ICU and an infectious disease ward).

From what I can determine from this study, it is consistent with the normal numbers in today’s current stats of the illness in the US. And this test was run in a sterile situation with all the docs and medication available. So how effective is the treatment used. I don’t see it as that sound an answer to the problem, if at all. They are going to have to tweak it at worst. But it obviously isn’t ready yet.

Why isn’t this being mass-produced via the Defense Production Act like they are now doing with respirators? WTH are they waiting for?

FYI:

My wife has a colleague in NYC who had CV symptoms, shortness of breath, fever, cough. He’s mid-thirties, in good health otherwise, with no severe underlying conditions. His doctor told him to self-quarantine and to let him know if his symptoms became worse. If so, he would then have him tested. It never came to that. He also prescribed hydroxychloroquine and a Z-Pack. The young man told my wife today that after two days of taking the medication he was feeling much better and that after five days his symptoms are almost gone! Real story. Real first-hand account. Real results! Good news!

There is already a 1100 person study in NY already underway. We should get the results in a few days. Since the mortality rate is 1-2%, smaller studies are not going to be reliable. If you think about it, even in a 1100 person study, we are looking to see if this makes a difference for the 11-22 people who would have otherwise passed away. Let us wait and see.
