Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a last-minute dash across the border from Canada to the US because of concerns over tax and losing their personal security, insiders have claimed. The couple took a private jet to Los Angeles, California with their ten-month-old son Archie just before non-essential travel between the two countries was suspended last week because of the coronavirus pandemic. It has now emerged that tax from earning money and keeping up residence in both places was a motivating factor for the move. The couple had wanted to be based in a Commonwealth like Canada where they could still perform royal duties while earning their own income.

I don’t think her date with Harry was luck. This woman is a schemer and I believe she set out to nab a rich Brit. I do hope Harry realizes that he’s now in a community property state. In a short time she’ll take him to the cleaners.
Meghan renounced her US citizenship prior to the “fairy-tale wedding”, she’d better have a green card if she’s planning to work.
I doubt Megan went to an embassy and filled out all the paperwork to LEGALLY reject her US citizenship.

I'm almost certain she has not renounced her U.S. citizenship. It was reported that she had begun the process of becoming a U.K. citizen but that takes several years and requires uninterrupted residence in the U.K. which she doesn't have.
In any case it's a clusterf**k, Harry did not choose well.
She hasn’t met the legal requirements to become a British citizen yet. If she had legally renounced her US citizenship immediately, she would be a woman without a country.
If the UK tries to stick us with the bill, Americans should boycott British imports.
Why ever would we foot the bill for their security?
Meghan dislikes America in general terms, and Harry is a Brit.
Plus, if they have enough money to consider buying a 20 million dollar home, they can pay for their own durn security.
If they want someone to pay their bills, they need to return to the UK.
There are legal conventions involved, but since these two are no longer on the payroll anymore, the case may be iffy.
To my mind the Brits should pay full freight.
And if the UK makes a stink, US consumers should take it out of the UK’s hide.
