Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a last-minute dash across the border from Canada to the US because of concerns over tax and losing their personal security, insiders have claimed. The couple took a private jet to Los Angeles, California with their ten-month-old son Archie just before non-essential travel between the two countries was suspended last week because of the coronavirus pandemic. It has now emerged that tax from earning money and keeping up residence in both places was a motivating factor for the move. The couple had wanted to be based in a Commonwealth like Canada where they could still perform royal duties while earning their own income.

So, when Harry applies for his green card will he enter his work skills as “waiting patiently for my grandmother, father, brother, two nephews and a niece to die”?
Given who is wife is, likely not so patiently.
There is no royalty in the USA. We don’t have a monarchy. There are no royal families. I DON’T CARE!
The main members of the royal family would put in 75-200+ public appearances a year on behalf of Great Britain, the Queen did this number until she was 90 or so. Even people in GB who oppose the monarchy will grudgingly admit that they work hard.
These two want to be members of the “idle rich”.

There is that, but compared to putting up with meddling courtiers and the prying press, it's understandable why some would want to opt out. Harry and Meghan aren't going to get rid of the reporters (and it's likely that they don't wholly want to), but not everybody is up to having court officials tell them what they can and can't do (if it's still like that for royals).

The solution (guided by and agent and publicist no doubt): Marry this loser, amp up publicity through the roof. Big royal wedding ala Grace Kelly.
Next, get out of this thing and accomplish the real goal of moving up to the “A” list.
The Megxit is perfect!! Peel away from Jolly ole England, get back to LA, act again and pull the grand Mexit, which is an affair with a co-star strategically leaked, followed by a divorce. More publicity that is followed by a “The Royal Family is Racist” victim book and an interview with Oprah.
