btw,I just noticed an warning in that University of Michigan study suggesting getting a g6pd test for the new “miracle” drug.

and here we go with the poor Iranian Jews again

Prevalence of beta-thalassemia trait and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency in Iranian Jews.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18164966

I am too tired to wrap my head around this but dang it...did malaria evolution issues cause me to have thalessemia,
Lactate dehydrogenase deficiency (mine is 70!!!) ..AND then unlucky enough to get stuck with a male disease of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency

going to have to look at all that mess later

So since the beginning of this I have been wondering various issues about red cell blood disorders and wondered if those in the Thalessemia Belt could have more of an issue.

I dont have the answer to that yet...BUT did see the following. The “miracle” drug may or may not be appropriate for people with red blood cell disorders

http://eurobloodnet.eu/news/99/covid-19-infection-and-red-blood-cell-disorders

The correct treatment and management of infection by Coronavirus (COVID-19) in patients affected by Red Blood Cell disorders, as hemoglobinopathies (sickle cell disease and thalassaemia), enzymopathies or membranopathies, may be challenging given the rapid spread of the pandemia and limited literature so far, especially in some countries.
