Moving Tax Day
cogitating self | 3-26-2020 | PhiloBedo

As you know, President Trump has used the pandemic exercise to move tax day from April 15, to July 15.

Many here have, in the past, opined that if tax day were moved to October 15, taxpaying voters would be less inclined to vote for the “tax and spend” candidates.

Can POTUS make the move to July 15 permanent?

And further, could he then, after he wins re-election, move it to October 15?

I don’t like the October 15th date...too close to the holidays. Not a good time to be writing a check to the IRS when you have to gift shopping too.

October 15 would put it right before the elections in November. The memory of having to write that check (especially before the holidays) would be fresh in the voters minds when they go to vote.

OR move election day to the day after tax payment day. Winners take office first business day in July.

Abolish it and the IRS entirely, and implement a flat tax to be paid monthly like most other bills.

Truth in Taxes Act of 2020:
1. Make taxday the first Monday in November.
2. Abolish withholding - make people write the whole check at once
3. Make the “employers” part of SS & Medicare part of the employees paycheck. Have to write that check in November too.
4. Make the front cover of the tax forms two pie charts - where the $$ come from and where they go. The next year we’ll pass the “ No Representation without Taxation” act of 2021 and cut it half again.

The truth shall make us free. We’ll cut our tax burden in half in one year.

If it is moved to July 15 are we still required to file the tax form by April 15?

How about making it Sept 30 to coincide with the federal fiscal year?

”The memory of having to write that check (especially before the holidays) would be fresh in the voters minds when they go to vote.“

I agree in principle, but unfortunately there are probably more people receiving checks these days than writing them.

No, you can wait to file and pay at 38% interest accruing from April 15th. But no penalty.

How does that affect those who file estimated taxes. Do you have to pay your April and June taxes before July 15th? Just curious.

I pay estimated. I would think so, just pay your estimated up to July 15.
