You are probably doing the right thing. It all depends on health conditions and ages in the family.

Now we do only last minute cruises, so do not need to worry about insurance. Last cruise on Feb 24th we booked like 3 days before because the discount looked good.

When we lived in California we were just an hour’s drive from San Pedro, so could take advantage of the last-minute deals. SO cheap! Kept our “cruise bags” packed and ready to go. Now, in Tennessee, we can’t do that. Every cruise requires flights and excessive planning.
