Thread #26 here:

3. The development of an effective drug, treatment or vaccine.
It's not likely to end sooner, but like other countries, we are taking actions to make it less dangerous. Barring effective drugs or treatments, "less dangerous" is still going to be about 2% mortality among those who become ill. Like every other country that has seen large numbers of infections, we face a difficult long term fight to prevent clusters from becoming new outbreaks. Right now, 2% of a small number is probably our best case, and 5% or more of a very large number our worst case, meaning we failed.
There are some who think that the actual infection rate is so high that a large percentage of us are already recovered and immune, but there is no evidence of that. A lot of people are citing a British paper that makes that case, but that paper was not based on evidence, but a theory. Not a single person was tested for antibodies or immune response. It's possible, but not something I would base any public health policy or planning on.
Crib notes on China:
1. 21 million cellphone accounts go dead- 6 million can’t be explained by normal means (along with their owners?)
2. relapsing patients are not counted as new cases so they’re not showing up on data
3. Wuhan districts can’t open factories until they have 14 days of no infection, so all people with fevers are being sent to fever centers and not admitted as patients - they are hidden
4. Anyone who reports a sick person is held responsible so nobody is reporting
5. 43K asymptomatics not counted in numbers; about 30% of diagnosed were asymptomatic but not reported as cases.

Also China is abandoning their citizens in other countries wanting to return to china. (this after earlier indicating they were ready to airlift their citizens from anywhere that became a hot zone) They have imposed one incoming flight per week restrictions, and no ‘foreigners’ allowed entry (this per Fox news scroller this am). Additionally, all must go into 14 day quarantine, which they must pay for - can’t go home to their apts, also meant to discourage travel. So I guess NYC, LA, and SFO Chinese aren’t going to be able to go home any time soon.
Yeah, any search to find magical cures or short cuts just don’t lead anywhere.
I googled the flu bros friendly economist Richard Epsten, his last article assured us there would be less than 500 CV deaths...
enacting DNR orders
Mr. BP says we need to get fake ids that say we’re 42.
“There is a reason no country was willing to let CV19 burn through their population.”
Yep. But you need to tell the FluBros that.
These days, no governor of MA is really a Republican, no matter the letter after their name.
have your lawyer on call.
I crack up when I read stuff like that. I’d say the vast majority of people have no clue who to call when they need a lawyer much less have one ‘on call’ lolol
More panic when they see future health care license applications nose dive.
The ban is to keep foreigners from seeing things the Chinese Communist Party doesn’t want them to see.
It will be interesting to see. You are probably right about the secondary effect on flu and similar contagious diseases. But it also seems to have an acceleration effect on chronic conditions.
“You got ten years left on your Diabetes clock? Nah. You can go to the front of the line. You with the heart disease - you’re outta here!”
I wonder what its interaction with cancer is. Killed that kid with leukemia pretty quick.
Of course, you have to look at who is really panicking.
FluBros, because they figured it out too late, and FluBros, because their narrative is collapsing, and people that listened to FluBros like de Blasio, FluBro-in-Chief, who are now fleeing NYC and other places, spreading infection wherever they go. And some so-called “experts”.
Splendid.
Agreeing with comments that 98% of jobs seem to be essential which totally defeats the purpose. Then everyone else is out and about making not so essential errands like picking up the latest video game, shoes and swim suits at Wallyworld. Looks like making tattoo ink for Big Bubba's Tattoos is an essential business. Tourists are inching up, too.
I’m glad.
Also the weight loss solves a lot of things, I found. Everything just went away.
The statistical universes are too small, or the proportion of resolved cases is too small. CCP-19 kills the weak fast and then picks off a steady stream as the cases resolve.
China has the end data from Wuhan, or could if they have been brave enough to open all those apartment buildings they welded closed.
DP is close to done but there is still space for the thing to go to as much as 16% or stay at 1.4%. Probably gonna get close to 2% based on current trends.
Korea still has more than half its cases outstanding.
Each of the above has either completely or significantly contained its outbreak.
Nobody else has enough cases, honest reporting or anything approaching containment to be a valid source. In some cases, all three are lacking. Maybe Singapore, but even they still have community spread. And cases take so long to resolve on average.
Anyway, that’s my view
Thank you. I recently switched to the fat-soluble one so I didn’t have to be loading up on it constantly.
It really does keep colds away, and helps them go away.
I also use echinacea, which is not agreeable to everyone’s system. Some, I think, are allergic to it. But it eats viruses for breakfast. Whenever I feel a real cold coming on I take it and adios.
“The more I read about doctors and nurses getting sick and dying from this, the more proud I am of my daughter, who is a nurse in the pediatric ICU, and a transport nurse who goes out to other hospitals to bring patients back to ours, which is a major teaching hospital. She knows the risks and is doing her job. Please pray for her and all the other health care professionals, cops, firemen, EMTs and paramedics, and National Guard, who are all on the front line of this thing.”
They are the warriors that fight in the trenches in this war.
Tell your daughter “Thank you for your service” from me and mine. I make it a point to say that to all HCS people I encounter, even on the phone and online.
