The World's Going toEnd
The world’s going to end, some day, some day,
But I can tell you when.
When I stop cranking out for it,
The impetus to spin.
Oh, yes, it’s me who’s at the heart,
Of every thing’s conjunction,
I noticed this while still quite young,
Who else could make it function?
Nothing happens when I’m not there,
Though some pretend it does.
They cannot fool me for I see,
It’s just the way it was.
I feel perplexed and puzzled,
You all will go some day,
When my senescence brings a close,
To all you have to say.
Like silent ghosts you’ll drift away,
While I in sleep descend.
And on that sad and somber day,
The world will have its end.
