A kid who licked toilets as part of the #CoronaVirusChallenge says he's now in the hospital with coronavirus. @gayshawnmendes was also just suspended from twitter
Floofy kitteh!
Good morning.
I watched the second half of a documentary on the history and evolution of cats around the world. It was very interesting! I learned things! The first episode was last week, so this was worth waiting for.
It was followed by a segment on repopulating Mozambique with wild dogs to help restore the eco-balance after the horrible wars there that lasted for 20 years. Amazing what can happen when people become stewards of the land instead of harvesters only. Lions are back and even a leopard was spotted, so this is good. They will wait to see how the dogs do before reintroducing hyenas.
I’ve learned from sad experience that kids seem to think the rain will miss them, personally. It makes for wet kids, wet clothes and a drippy mess wherever they walk. My own Favorite Daughter didn’t ever seem to have enough sense to come in out of the rain, and then would complain because she was wet and cold.
On the show about the Cleveland Zoo, there was a segment on a breeding program for African wild dogs. They were very excited about a litter of puppies!
Shannon is angry over not being allowed outside. Maybe when it’s light ...
Children’s getting wet is one of the things I don’t care about, as long as they put their wet clothes in the laundry basket - unballed, right side out, pockets empty - and their wet shoes in the garage. Of course, that is Too Much To Ask ...
In spite of having what I think is a very tolerant disposition towards youth adventures - “Sure, whatever, just get your mess cleaned up.” - somehow I’m cast as the Ogre of the Western World. It’s one of life’s mysteries!
By the time the original pack of 14 wild dogs (taken from several unassociated packs) had been released for 10 months, there were two litters of eight puppies one from the Alpha female and one from a lesser female. Four of the other dogs split off and formed a separate pack and very quickly had their own litter of eight pups. So the entire program has been a success. It was pretty encouraging to watch.
The 14 had been kept within an electrified enclosure for a period of time to see how they adapted (I missed some of the program due to my shower) and when the gate was opened, and meat was used to entice them out, they were quite bonded. That was a feat, too. What they did was to put each dog’s scent onto each other dog to cut down on the aggression.
It was fascinating and if it’s shown again, I’ll try to watch it without interruption.
The whole thing was pretty cute. It’s one person telling the story to the other about how he was shipwrecked and married this peahen. The groaners fly and the audience gets a kick out of yelling at every bad joke (”What’s an atoll?” “Well, it’s a little sand and a little gravel and nothing else a tall.”)
But at the end when the first is explaining how right after their child was born a big wave washed them all out to sea and he never saw them again that the second just loses it.
“You’re telling me that you took an ocean voyage.”
“Yes.”
“Washed up on a desert atoll.”
“Yes.”
“You met a peahen.”
“Yes.”
“You got married.”
“Yes.”
“And you had a KID?????!!!!!!”
“Yes.”
Then the 2nd guy pulls up his coat to reveal tail feathers sticking up from his back and he yells, “Daddy!”
The audience loves it.
Happy Friday, everyone.
Rainy and cold here. I hope it’s nicer where you are.
Either nicer or you really like rainy and cold. Whichever.
...somehow Im cast as the Ogre of the Western World. Its one of lifes mysteries!
Motherhood! It just proves you're doing your job properly, is all! ;o]
LOL!
That would have had me on the floor, just because it’s so silly!
Happy Friday to you, ArGee!
I guess if a person liked rainy and cold, then rainy and cold would be “nicer,” yes? I see rain so seldom that I’m beginning to like it. ;o] Although, when we lived in Olympia, I didn’t like it because it’s when I first exhibited signs of arthritis in every joint. I wasn’t even 30.
It has stopped raining here, and it is not cold.
A cardinal is saying “Chip!” loudly just outside the back door. He or she had better watch out for Shannon.
Now it’s raining again. Shannon and the cardinal(s) got wet.
Still dark here, but the day will be sunny again with a high of 85°. Right now, though, we’re at 50° and Cabot is at 46°! Blimey! Winter.
It’s clearing up here. 70s already. Not winter.
I’d like to get some real cold weather, so I can put all the stuff from the refrigerator outside to stay cool while I defrost it for 24 hours.
Now it's clouded up and we're expecting possible flurries...
Doing some server work in our Shop. Kinda wish we still had that old video game console here. Would give me something to do as my scripts churn away on setting up the clients new machine...
That's what phones are for.
Of course, they're rather easy to tilt.
Turns out possible flurries are here... Looks more like a full on blizzard. First real snow of the year...
Morning, specifically sunrise and the 15 minutes before, is my favorite time of day.
No clouds, yet, but according to the Admiral, wind is expected.
What I miss is my Nintendo and the Tetris cartridge. I was the Tetris Queen!
Blimey. Snow. No wonder AR is so cold today!
And now, kiddies, I’m off on some errands.
Cheated Death Again: Round and Round We Go!
The new traffic circle outside our subdivision is done. It’s all circular and everything!
