In a better world, there would be someone you could call on to drive you.

Yes, perhaps.

I’ve learned over the years that there are very few people who see me as someone needing help with driving or anything else. If there is the odd person who is willing, the hours I can do it are daunting to them and the offer is withdrawn. “Eight in the morning? Oh, no! That’s too early!”

So I don’t even bother to ask.

Eight in the morning is mid-day for some of us.

And bordering on bedtime for others of us.

In a better world

Best not to get started. It’ll just ruin Friday.

But even my imagination of the Millennial Reign gives me a really long list.

Interesting quote. It’s under consideration for theft as a tag line.

Welcome to the Undead Thread.

Now that you’ve had a chance to peruse it, feel free to join in.

I’d been trying not to think about the original topic of the thread.

Yes, welcome and please join us if you wish. The original topic began as something about the Corona Virus, when it was still novel. *ahem*

Now, since it’s the Umpty-Teenth Reincarnation of the original from 16 or so years ago, it’s gone through as many names, topics and identities.

It’s still the Flying Castle, which Nicknamedbob can tell you all about because he’s still at the helm. ;o]

Took my driving test in the early 80's in one of these behemoths...

Yes... Even the parallel parking part.

Makes parking my 2011 Expedition XLT-EL seem easy though...

In Driver’s Ed in high school I parallel parked that beast on the first try that particular Saturday morning. I spent the rest of the morning showing others how to parallel park.

I have more trouble with smaller vhecles.

That disappearing tailgate (yes, we had that, but not the fake wood paneling) was not Buick’s brightest idea. It was kind of nice not to have to duck under the hatch, but it seriously reduced the packing volume and it broke.

Often.

Ours was a Chevy. Still the same vehicle, different Fischer Autobody trim... Only problem we had with the 3rd row seats or rear hatch was a problem with the lock cylinder for the rear gate.

Turn it one way, it only opened the glass... Turn it the other way, it was supposed to lower the hatch and retract the glass... In theory... Until it ices up, the hatch goes down, glass stays put, and you can't turn it the other way for some dumb reason...

She was a big beast, but made taking family vacations (Dad, Mom, 3 kids and a LARGE dog) a snap...

I drove one of those with two kids, two pets and some plants from MO to VA in the dead of winter one year. Road Barge 8, Body by Crash.

I don’t trust Pat with the van. I trust only Tom with the van. And maybe Elen, USMC, who is presently in Alaska, because she learned to drive a HMMV on the wrong side of Australia.

Did I mention Elen was promoted to Corporal?

The casserole is in the pan. Pat and his father will have to see to the cooking.

Excellent! Those blood stripes and chevrons take a bit to get over once they've been pinned on. My left-side insignia actually got stuck in my collarbone...

That is, assuming they still do the old rituals for a freshly minted Corporal...
