I Cheated Death as well: gas station and bank. One of the rolls of quarters wasn’t closed tightly enough so I had quarters in the bottom of my backpack. *sheesh*

In other news, the yarn will be here today! Five days early! What a bonus! *happy dance*

Just like Christmas!

I’m going to Naptime. Maybe I’ll find a cat.

No cat. Jake has been in the sunroom. I don’t know where Shannon is.

I had Vlad fill the food bowl in the sunroom. Jake ate the food, threw up on the carpet, and went outside to pout.

Cats are great.

I’m sorry about Jake’s desertion.

Here all this time, I was thinking Grandson #4’s birthday was Saturday and it’s today, and the card may not even get there until Monday. So the migraine has once again increased. Little things trigger it and I never know what will.

No sign of the FedEx truck, yet, but even for here, it’s a bit early. He’ll probably arrive just about the time I’m trying to settle in.

I need to take Pat to work in about 20 minutes. He’s working 4 to 11 the next few days. Once he turns in his high school diploma - which they could have asked for it two weeks ago, but didn’t - they’ll schedule him for more hours again.

I’m sure he’s enjoying the slightly shorter shifts, and it’s not like he has expenses.

The yarn is here!!!

It’s a little darker than I expected but nevertheless, it’s soft and beautiful and will be a joy to work with, and I hope, to wear, as well. :o])

And now, I can allow my headache to take me down the hallway, and maybe it will, in turn, allow me to sleep tonight.

Have a good night and I’ll see you tomorrow!

First jobs are generally sucky. It's not a rule, but there's a lot to get used to.

The point to take home from it is this: when you discover something you don't like about the job, try to figure out the lesson you should be learning from that procedure.

It may be that you need a better tool or equipment. It may be that you realize you'd rather be doing something else. But the main thing to think about is you're being paid to do something your boss doesn't have time to do or has better things to do.

If you want HIS position rather than yours, there's a lot you need to learn, so apply yourself and do the best job you can.

My perspective is, “Pretend it’s an acting job.” Act as if all you want to do with the next eight hours is perfectly stock the merchandise, while interacting with everyone you meet in a cheerful, but detached, way. And say to yourself, “Eleven dollars per hour.”

It’s not the big time, but for a kid with no expenses, the paycheck is going to be like a miracle.

When all you have to exchange in an economic system is your own limited physical ability, becoming independently wealthy seems a very long stretch away — but that is precisely when beginning your planning and its execution makes the most difference.

Yes, yes, reward yourself first, after all it is a first job. But PAY yourself first as well. Get into the habit immediately of putting a portion of your paycheck aside in savings. This will then attest to the importance of finding a job where your own savings are rewarded in a 401K by people who will PAY you to save money.

It can’t be beat.

...Get into the habit immediately of putting a portion of your paycheck aside in savings...

This is a lesson I didn't learn until I was almost 50, and by then, I was a minority worker -- a "displaced homemaker over 45," and had no training of any kind.

Because of the spinal injury, I was limited in what I could do, and the pay was just barely subsistence-level. It was another year before I was able to go to business college.

Somehow, my son learned the lesson, but my daughter didn't.

A Morning Floof to start my day. Again.

Good morning.

I think I got a total of six hours of sleep last night, and I hope, once again, that this is IT for a week or two. I need to get back on my schedule.

Now I have to take a break, fix my tea and then write a letter to Charlie. It’s 60° outside, the migraine is still with me and I may have to drag out the ice bag.

Kitteh is Alarmed!

Good morning. Off to a slow start here, but we’re seriously getting back on schedule after the trip.
