Filling the jug at the standpipe reminds me of when we worked for the forest service south of Tucson. They brought in a water mule, in case we needed it, but our holding tank for fresh water had enough in it to last until our transfer to Madera Canyon, where we had access to actual fresh-piped water.

When I got back from the bathroom, the people I was expecting at 3:30 were there at 2:30, so we started early. Now I’m home, showered, finished the WSJ crossword (Jake helped), and off to sort laundry.

*tagline*

Up again. Brain won’t quit.

I’ve been meaning to find a crossword online, so I may as well do it while I’m here. No Jake to help, though.

What days do you go back to camp?

While I was reading “Dead Sea Scrolls,” earlier I flipped ahead to see how long the next chapter was and the most beautiful little bookmark fell out! Tiny flowers pressed on parchment. I’ll take a pic of it tomorrow. It’s only about 5” long and 1-1/2” wide but its very delicate! :o]

I like finding new things!

It’s currently planned that I’ll be at camp on Friday and Saturday starting around noon. I won’t know for sure until the Shooting Sports leader texts me the schedule.

Good morning. Plans for today include organizing music for Sunday - Asuncion sent me her selections yesterday - and exchanging books at the library. There will be an emphasis on staying off my feet. My right foot has been bothering me for several days.

Would that be arthritis in that foot? Isn’t that the same foot that has given you problems before?

I’ll do something odd like maybe bag up some stuff for the thrift store, and maybe pack a box or two of books. Just — something. I’m still waiting for a refund on my stamps.com account so I can’t mail anything yet. Darnit. I’m tired of the clutter.

Yes, the same foot. It could be arthritis. Wouldn’t that be annoying!

Happy Tuesday, everyone. It’s root canal day. No food nor coffee yet so ... anyway.

Kitteh has that look when my son used to say )at a much younger age) “Toilet paperz!”

Of course, he used to say it for the dog.

Thank you.

I’m sure I’ll be OK with the procedure, and even the food fast. It’s the lack of caffeine that will get to me.

I don’t envy you the root canal. I’ve had them. I prefer not.

Just think of Bill Cosby’s skit of going to the dentist, and you’ll be fine. :o]

At least we can’t witness your numbness when you talk...

Well, if it is arthritis, it will definitely be annoying, but I have two things to say about about that: 1. wrap it when it hurts too much, and b. keep it WARM! Aspercreme works in a pinch, too. Or something like it.

How would I find out whether it’s arthritis?

Usually the pain is more of a stiffness in the joint(s) affected, first thing in the morning, often also swelling, sometimes redness. If flexing the joint brings more pain, it’s probably arthritis. Touching it can cause pain as well. The best way is x-ray, but barring that, keep an eye on it. If its worse the day after an activity, the chances are good its arthritis. It usually comes to all of us with age, though some of us have had it since our teens.

Once it shows up in a joint, it never goes away. It may get better, depending on the weather, but that also makes it worse! I was told a long time ago that any joint that is affected by it should be kept warm. Like an sock cut to the right length to slip over an elbow, even in warm weather. Or a wristlet.

It shows up first in joints that have been injured, so it very probably is arthritis. I’ve found that joint supplements help with the pain.

Next suggestion is x-ray. It could be a pulled tendon or bursitis. If the pain is burning, its probably bursitis.
