KEYWORDS: todayscryptogram
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Today’s cryptogram is fairly easy, and deciphering word #5 then #4 will get you out of the starting blocks quickly to the finish line in ramming speed.

Hmm. Sounds like the author is talking about D.C.

First time in years I’ve done one without paper or electronic aid, purely “in my head”. This one was easy. Thanks for the exercise.

Once I got the ‘double’ word it fell into place (for me).

HOWEVER, a seemingly dire and somewhat morbid quote, BUT I wasn’t entirely sure of the author and when you research the author, the ENTIRE quote is presented and surely changes the meaning.

Weird for me as well. I worked it out in my head in probably a minute today. The 11th word was immediate and for whatever reason the 2nd word was obvious to me.

Took a wild guess at word 11, and then the rest fell into place.

About the same process here, except that filling in UCMHKZULF and UCMHKZULF took some small amount of concentration.
