I am 68, retired, and in good health.
I have seen no reason to change my behavior.
I will continue going out to stores and restaurants
for as long as they are open for business.
I don’t wear masks, or gloves, or wipe things down before I touch them.
I wash my hands a lot, but I have always done that.
So far, my area has no mandatory government closures,
except for schools and daycare centers...
Too bad governments don’t let people and businesses evaluate
their own risks instead of mandating what to do.
But, hey, Controllers...they gotta control...that’s what they do.
My DefCon level remains unchanged.
My loathing of government control has increased.
I am curious, in san joaquin valley especially coalinga (and phoenix az) there is a lot of valley fever cases..its a fungus in the lungs not a virus. Usually 60% recover without medication but some are put on anti-fungal drugs like fluconazole..it would be interesting to see if people who had valley fever and were treated with an anti-fungal get the chinese virus or not...
I hope some pros look into that...

Not too much. Hunkering down. I work with a national Christian boys adventure organizations. We’re working toward trying to encourage our local units to use technology to retain some normalcy among the boys.
One of my daughters lives along and has so far refused to purchase a gun, cause “she lives in a nice area”
My son dropped off a shotgun to her the other day just in case the social order breaks down.
Beyond that, not much.
But if I suddenly stop posting here, I trust that would serve as adequate notification to the Free Republic community that the Chinese virus finally got me. But I'm taking precautions. Why just the other day, I took all my remaining cans of bat soup and tossed them in the garbage.
I’m 66 now and in decent shape. I fear the economic fallout is going to be brutal. And the stalinists like aoc and bernie will use it to get rid of president Trump. Their goal is power.

Keeping my distance from others comes naturally. The precision machine I operate is distanced from others. Washing hands more frequently. Praying more earnestly and often. Looking forward to more than four more years with DJT in office.

It’s hard, and we’re in a rural area, but work in the city, so everything is closed. One of our kids think it’s the end of the world, so we can’t see the granddaughters (2 of them anyway) and since we usually see them on Sunday, my wife woke up crying about it. If this turns out to be a media/Dem nothingburger, I want them to literally be hanging from bridges. By the neck.
BTW, did I say I’m not panicked?
About ten years ago, our estate/trust attorney advised us to have a walk through our house with adult children,their spouse and our grand kids.
The task was to look at every painting, gun, fly rods, furniture,rings/watches,etc and to have future heirs decide what they wanted in case both my wife were gone. They could pick one item and put their name in the back of the item and on a list for the trust lawyer. Then we repeated the process until basically everything had a future heir/owner.
We did this again last summer as we updated our trust. Basically everyone didn’t change their choices.
Also, we updated our end of life medical choices. The family doc, the clinic and trust lawyer have copies. So do our adult children.
We revised how our estate would be divided. The Grand kids would get more but delayed until age 25 or 30. Our adult kids said to divide what was left between our church and the Salvation Army. The adult kids feel that if we leave no debts, have the grand kids, church and Salvation Army get the remainder,that would be great estate management.

That is such a good idea. My best friend tried to show her husband about the finances, investments, bills, etc., and he absolutely was not interested and wouldn’t do it.
She died from cancer in 2018, and his life became a nightmare. We had lunch with him two weeks ago, and he was mentioning some finance-related things, and he quietly yelled, “Diane, where are you?!” I reminded him that he should have listened to her when he had the chance, and he agreed.
