I was in Army flight school enroute to Vietnam & when the shuttle brought us back from the airfield, everyone would sing,
“It wasn’t me who started that old crazy Asian war,
“But I was proud to go and do my patriotic chore...”
And fifty years ago, we did. Kenny is now missed.

During the 90s I worked across the street from one. Ate there nearly every day. $4.99 was half a roasted chicken (light or dark meat, dark was better), 2 sides (his mac and cheese was superb), and a perfect hot corn muffin (with actual corn).
The chicken was liberally basted with a cracked peppercorn marinade, and then turned slowly on a flame-broiling rotisserie that somehow managed not to burn the peppercorns.
The chicken would cut with a fork, and even had a thin smoke ring on the meat. Perfection.

You know I was just wondering how many of Kenny Roger’s songs were “Nam Songs” played on AFN as our Atlanta DJ Gary McKee used to call them. I suspect there were a few others.
