Sure, why not? Charge an extra .10 or .15 cents a gallon for the extra service? Probably pay for itself. For quite some time stations had both self and full-service pumps.
They don't even mention the free maps, probably because all the other companies also gave them out.
Thats all true and gas was like .25 cents a gallon. Of course I was making $1.25 an hour if I was lucky.

The invention that was most destructive to the family was television, and second was the cell phone.
Wrong: Birth Control Pill destroyed the family.
In the 1960s the Brith Control Pill progressed to the point that it was advertises as reliable.
Previously it was not reliable. Sex was delayed til marriage. Delayed gratification dominated society. Yes there was immediate gratification. But for the family it did not dominate.
The birth control pill has made immediate gratification dominate not just sex, but most of society.

That was really something. However, I still get a little glimpse of this kind of service here in Oregon sometimes, especially in small towns. In Oregon, it is illegal to fill your own gas, and each gas station has a gas station attendant.
8.5 gallons= $3.01 so 35.4¢ / gallon plus $3.05 for 5 quarts of oil = 69¢ each. Not too shabby.
My first job (still in high school) was at a Shell station. They taught the full service regimen the same as this video illustrates. Definitely long ago and far away now!
I remember these things. Full service was the norm. Not every service station was as pleasant or clean, but some were.
