The Boston Celtics said they learned Thursday that one their players has tested positive for the coronavirus COVID-19.
The team said testing was initiated because of exposure to a known positive case.
Marcus Smart identified himself as the player who tested positive in a video posted to social media.
The team said Smart was not exhibiting symptoms and has been in isolation for several days and will continue to do so while being monitored by team medical staff.
"I feel okay, I feel fine," Smart said in a video posted to Twitter. "COVID-19 must be taken with the highest of seriousness," he wrote.
"I can't stress enough practicing social distancing, keep yourself away from a large group of people," he said.

The positive test comes a week after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus. Jazz teammate Donovan Mitchell also tested positive for the virus.
The Jazz played the Celtics at TD Garden on Friday, March 6.

The Celtics said they were awaiting further testing results and will communicate them as appropriate.
"Taking steps to maintain the health and safety of everyone in our organization and across the NBA remains our top priority, and we will continue to work closely with health officials and the league in addressing this situation," the team said in the statement.
The rich elite get the precautionary tests and the rest of the public is getting tested only when they are sick as dogs. Just sayin.
