They had the most stupid backstory for her character. Her character was supposed to be a former pro surfer. This would make her a local celebrity. Her joining the police was probably big in the local news making her totally useless for undercover work.
On par with the totally inconspicuous “striped tomato” driven by Starsky.
Hutch’s Galaxie was what I’d drive as an undercover cop.
