Did the Chinese use peeps tendency to virtue signal as a means to spread the beer bug?

Considering it’s China, I’d put more weight on the lab but instead of selling the animals it probably was like the 1979 Soviet anthrax outbreak.
Lab screwed up and infected people who brought it out into the wild.
Would fit the communist playbook too:

I think this virus has been around longer than December, a few monthS longer. While I don't think it was an act of war/intentional, they hid it as long as they could because like any good Liberal/Socialist/Communist they never let a crisis go to waste. Especially when they caused it.

Back in February, there was some debate among Freepers about whether to bring infected nationals home from Wuhan/China to treat them here in the US. A lot wanted to keep the infected in China until they recovered. Some suggested sending teams to assist the Chinese with study/treatment, knowing they’d be there through the crisis. A vocal few wanted them brought back to the US through whatever quarantines the Chinese had in place, figuring they’d have a better chance here.
The administration decided to bring them home via State Department- chartered flights. Even then, folks suggested quarantining passengers on isolated islands in the Pacific with treatment facilities standing by to receive them.
None of that happened, IIRC. Folks were brought home, given a cursory check-out then sent home to (maybe) self quarantine.

I get that part but I just don’t see some chi-com official thinking “we’re really suffering from American tariffs. Ho about we spread an illness, first in our own country, that will eventually shut down global commerce.”
