The International Olympic Committee held a global teleconference on Wednesday to reassure athletes, representatives, national organizing committees and anyone else about the 2020 Summer Games, which are scheduled for this July in Japan. As it tends to go with the IOC, it seems the only thing that was reassured is that the IOC wants to hold the Games … and cash the checks, of course. These are, clearly, unprecedented times. It isn’t the IOC’s fault that a global pandemic struck. As such, no one is expecting concrete answers on an Olympics that is still months away. Cancellation or postponement seem likely, but there is no need to eliminate hope. Time will tell. If that was the tone of the call, then perhaps there would have actually been a "reassurance." Instead, according to people on the call who spoke to The New York Times, it was a dismissive, hardline and even ridiculous endeavor.

The Olympic ideal died when they started having dream teams/professional athletes. Most athletes, track and field, swimming, etc. are now pros.
What’s wrong with 2021?
none of the elite athletes are going to the Olympics...
they should bite the bullet, and postpone til 2021.
e.g. the EURO soccer tournament was moved to next summer, it can be done
however, the IOC and Japan want their return now, pure greed
How can you have the Olympic qualifying which start I believe next month?
