There seems to be a lot of anti Mormon sentiment on Free Republic. I’ve never understood it.

If you want to get into theology, we could all have endless debates in that area. I understand some such as fundamentalist or Evangelical Christians can never endorse Mormon theology, but then they can’t endorse theology of other religions in the first place anyway.

And introducing criticism of Mitt Romney into this, just because many of us disagree with him politically, seems to be a cheap shot at the LDS church. Mitt is not the personification of what people believe is wrong with the Mormon church, is he?

"Gnosticism is one of the great pagan philosophies which antedated Christ and the Christian Era and which was later commingled with pure Christianity to form the apostate religion that has prevailed in the world since the early days of that era." (Mormon Doctrine, p.290).

President George Q. Cannon said:

"After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. And this attitude is STILL deeply ingrained in the Mormon mind.

Mitt is not the personification of what people believe is wrong with the Mormon church, is he?

Perhaps Romney is not reflective of the average everyday “laity”...but Harry Reid and Mitt Romney...2 peas in a pod. It is not Republican or Democrat for them....it is Mormon Triumphalism. The Mormons play their own games and even the hierarchy really believes this stuff! Mormonsism will rule the world some day and when things fall apart, they believe they will be the ones picking up the pieces! Sound familiar?

I’ll bet at heart, even the Muslims and Mormons would find ways of getting along with each other. In both religions, it’s the women who get the shaft!

Then how can you contend for anything? And when any church proclaims it is the one true church than it is making itself an object of challenges.

But right now I am going outside (thank God i can) despite the Covid captivity and hysteria virus.
