The popular Spring Break destination of South Padre Island is now off limits to large groups of crowds, and the South Texas county due west is banning all public gatherings of more than 50 people in an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus
The City of South Padre Island on Monday evening declared a local state of disaster and banned gatherings over 50 people, something many locals had called for to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The citys convention center is closed, but the beach and causeway remain open, as well as businesses and local restaurants, however city officials advise not congregating in large groups.

Damn.
They will go to Mexico.
Who would have ever thought that a college kid could catch a disease on Padre Island during Spring Break?
I heard the corona virus makes you impotent so
sure wouldn’t want to take a chance eh.
If people are spread out along a beach outdoors, is that still considered a public gathering of x number of people?
Wouldn’t it be worse for people to be in close proximity in their hotel rooms or hotel bars, as far as communicable diseases are concerned?
So they asked the WuFlu patient why he was wearing a tuxedo?
Well, if Im gonna be impotent I want to look impotent!!
Good question. Maybe Joe Biden should volunteer as beach chaperone. That way he could say he cured the coronavirus.
So these are the smart, woke, caring about humanity MILLENNIALS who have been telling us how deep thinking they are, and have all the answers for the future, right? They are the ones who are convinced socialism is the answer, right? Well, they are in Miami sheltering in place, on the beaches, bars, hotels, restaurants and in beds with the strangers they met that day.
Yep.
Next it will be people per cubic foot.
I have a brother-in-law and sister-in-law that live in the Santa Rosa Beach, FL area, and they say that the beaches are closed.
Eye roll....
I thought salt water was a disinfectant.
Pensacola Beach, Navarre Beach stay open, officials call for groups no larger than 10
Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday at a press conference that he was leaving it up to local governments to decided whether local beaches will remain open, but he said people should not be in groups of more than 10 people.
“Having talked to mayors, it’s certainly not uniform throughout the state that you’re seeing massive crowds at beaches,” DeSantis said. “Some of them are residents, families and small groups, so if that is done and they’re properly spaced, and they want to continue to do that, we want them to have the freedom to do that if they see fit.”
Double eye roll.
I’m in NOLA. Took a stroll down Bourbon Street around noon. Deserted. Ditto along Riverwalk. Eerie seeing Cafe Dumonde with the chairs stacked. Here in Louisiana, sales tax revenues will plummet. State and local governments get most of their revenue from sales taxes. Once they have to start laying off the government deadheads, lets see how long these shutdowns last.
Two or three years ago, Panama City Beach got tired of the sleazy behavior and now discourage Spring Breakers. No alcohol on the beach etc.
Still some do come.

My kid caught a case of MRSA from his hotel room floor. Wound up having surgery.
