Your husband goes there. Ask him how many blue people per hour he figures their ER can handle. I have worked ERs. Moonlighting as a resident. I was the OIC of an Army ER. I have worked in ERs as a consultant in Camden New Jersey, Northwestern, Easton Hospital in Chicago, Children’s in Philadelphia, Children’s in Chicago and several others. A bunch of big hospitals. Too many little ones to remember. Blue people in the ER is a pretty big deal. It sucks up all the idling resources in the ER. Most little hospitals will struggle with one blue person per hour. The big ones will struggle and fail at ten or so. This is where we as a nation will live or die. How many blue people per hour can we handle?

Below 58,000 Trump can probably prevail in November. If the Rat media can “blame Trump for more death than Viet Nam” we probably are going to end up having that CW II we’ve been putting off.

As of yesterday there were not even 80 deaths in this country from coronavirus. And this is despite the fact that Chinese nationals continued to stream into the Seattle area after the “travel ban” by taking direct flights to Vancouver BC and then driving 3 hours or taking the bus back to “Little Wuhan” in East King County.

I doubt that we will even see even a thousand deaths in this country from this virus. Far more than that will die from other causes related to the economic downturn caused by the overreaction we are currently experiencing.

You are absolutely correct.

Unfortunately, there is no downside to exaggerating the severity of the COVID-19 epidemic. The people who are screaming “Fire!” in the crowded theater of our society know full well that we will have forgotten their screams when this virus burns itself out.

Similarly, there is no upside benefit to speaking rationally about the risks of contracting the virus or the likelihood of a serious health consequence. Even though the demographics of infection are pretty clear by now, there does not seem to be much appetite for the calls for calm. We can all see that President Trump's message of calmly limiting risk are met with derision by the pea-brained members of the chattering class. Yes, there is a large measure of TDS involved, but it is also the foundational principal of mass-media that panic sells newspapers, so they continue to throw gasoline on the bonfire of our fears and insecurities.

Exactly. I believe that is what has TPTB so freaked out.

We won’t let you volunteer in the hospital. Volunteers have been curtailed in hospitals to prevent exposure and this is not the time for amateur hour in out hospitals. That said i’m not seeing anything like H1N1 was yet. Even if it does get much worse, the panic and damage done to our civil liberties is far worse than the disease will be

As a fireman you can keep us posted for the next two weeks. You will be doing the EMS runs in your community. Let us know how it’s going out there. And thanks for being a fireman!

“There is a hospital in italy where 100% of patients with cover 19 on ventilators have died and they don’t know why. Things like that ARE scary.”

Since ventilators are pretty scarce, just how many patients is that?????

So, if you have to choose one or the other would you want to be aboard the Diamond Princess with COV19 being passed around or the 1918 Spanish flu?

Oh please! I spent 25 years with my crews in the back of medic units transporting people with breathing difficulties to the hospital. By the time they get to the ER they ate no longer blue; we give the high flow O2 with bag valve masks. No one at the hospital refers to them as “blue people” that I ever heard. Is that what they call them on TV hospital dramas?

“Because it’s become PC to lockdown”

I’m going to have to disagree with you on that. Some western politicians? Maybe. PDJT? I doubt it. Paramount Leader Xi? Nonsense. The grand poobah of Iran?

The nations that seem to have gotten a successful handle on Wuhan, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore have all taken measures to limit people to people contact. Nations late to implement such measures are experiencing a nightmare. See Italy—not a backwards 3rd-world hell hole.

Thankfully I am now retired, but I have been talking to my buddies who are still working about this. They are getting hammered big time, not by serious cases but by people with the sniffles who now are sure that they are going to die. But thanks for being so nice!

Correct. This is the difference between a MSM bent on protecting a POTUS and a MSM determined to destroy him. When he tried to keep things clam he was savaged for minimizing it. If this was march of 2012 NONE of this would happening and we would have daily praising of our brilliant president keeping a nation calm during a global challenge. Instead we have the best economy in history decimated.

Look, Trump did the right things. What choice did he have? Could be a chump either way, best to err on the side of caution.

With 50% of the infected having NO SYMPTOMS, self quarantine and social distancing makes perfect sense to stopping/controlling the spread.

This too shall pass.

“Anybody who thinks this is a hoax should go volunteer in a hospital for the next two weeks.”

During every flu season for as long as I can remember, the local Gannet rag has reported that the region’s hospitals are at or above capacity due to the influenza epidemic de jure. I don’t think the COVID-19 is a hoax. I do believe that the media-driven hysteria and political over-reaction is a hoax given their near silence in response to equally dangerous influenza pandemics and epidemics in the recent past that affected and killed a lot more people than COVID-19. For example, during the week that ended December 21, 2019, 300 Americans died of “ordinary” influenza: https://nypost.com/2019/12/28/flu-cases-in-nyc-spike-early-as-deaths-climb-across-us/. Even the NY Times is capable of reporting the facts as to the deadly 2017-2018 (80,000 USA deaths) without hysteria — when it want to: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/01/health/flu-deaths-vaccine.html
