Frozen 2 actress tests positive for coronavirus, shares timeline of symptoms
Fox News ^ | 3/17/20 | Melissa Roberto

(This has an excellent description of the onslaught of her symptoms with details unlike I've yet seen. Worth the read.) > The actress said the first day she exhibited symptoms began with a "sore throat, fatigue and headache," which progressed to a "mild fever" of 100.3 on day two. Her fever was accompanied by "horrible body aches, shortness of breath, major fatigue" and "no appetite" as well as a "deep, dry cough." On day three, Matthews said she had no fever and "minor" aches while her lungs got "much worse". She continued to have shortness of breath, fatigue and no appetite as well. Matthews' lungs continued to remain heavy and she was short of breath on day four, despite her symptoms seemingly becoming "more mild," she wrote. She also lost her sense of smell and taste. Days five, six and seven consisted of "more or less the same" symptoms. "feeling more like myself, still experiencing shortness of breath, loss of appetite, fatigue and no taste/smell but overall, doing okay," the actress said of days five, six and seven. She also pointed out on Monday night that testing for coronavirus is "INSANELY hard to come by." The "Frozen 2" star said she only got tested after learning she had been around someone who also confirmed positive and showed symptoms.

“AIDS was a pandemic and authorities couldn’t even close ‘bath houses’ where strangers would meet strangers to have sex in public.”

EXACTLY!!!!! And AIDS is fatal in almost all cases, not 2% or whatever this virus suggests. (Depending on what data you use.)

“You are no more important than any 1 citizen of this fabulous republic, azzwipe. I cancelled my subscription to your issues Hollyweird. Who? Don’t tell, don’t care.”

Wow. WTH? No one here gives a rat’s arse how you feel about Hollywood. This is about learning what the symptoms are really like and going through the illness. Not showing hate. Oh, and we don’t know who you are or care either.

i dont mind ‘unknowingly’ standing next to hiv-infected person, but no way on a coughing person

Understood. I have a friend who lives in a home infested with mold. She’s 70 and coughs all the time. Sad cuz she cannot afford to do anything about it. That said, we met for dinner at a restaurant other night and when she’d cough the tables around us about flipped. If she were to catch this is would not be good for her, at all. :(

This dude basically chronicled his whole experience aboard cruise-line.

Basically no symptoms until he was diagnosed with virus, then mostly dry cough leading to respiratory issues.

I think part of the issue is that lots of old and sickly people get the flu vaccine that helps mortality rates, but this new bug, none of that group has a vaccine or immunity so it’s especially dangerous. In convenient for most but more deadly to them. I think the issue is real but the reporting is typical anti-trump and he will be blamed for any death or governor’s incompetence.

Read the article and it was very, informative. The doctor said some encouraging things:

>>> We are all fearful of it because we don’t know what it’s about. But for me it was just a seven-day illness, which I believe is most people’s experience.

My 60-year-old body has fought a defense against a new virus. It has summoned my antibodies — if you took a sample of my blood now, it would be full of them — and protected my lungs, heart and kidneys against attack.

I am through it, and all I have to show for it is a slight sore throat and some ulcers in my nose that haven’t yet healed. The vast majority of people who get this virus will win the battle against it. Those dying are the ones with underlying health conditions, where the respiratory problems get too much.

I’ve heard it said that this isn’t much comfort to the people with underlying illnesses. But it is, because it means most of us can keep away from hospitals and leave the beds there for those who are really sick.

For the majority, coronavirus is bearable. As I hope my experience shows, it is not something most of us need fear.

You seem to have consistently been pretty neutral about the potential impact of CV. That may be because to a certain extent you may not particularly care, or perhaps you're actually a bit ahead of the curve in terms of rationale thinking.

FR is a great resource for leading edge thought and commentary. For the sake of encouraging more discussion along these lines, I pinged a few posters who have diverse opinions. Also, if you check my posting history, I've been pretty consistent in attempting to educate others about exponential growth effects.

OK, here are my predicates: I accept the modeled outcomes of a potential 66%+ infection rate; I also accept that humankind has no evolved, endemic response capability to CV, and that mortality rates may indeed reach 6-7% of the infected base. For the total US population, that would equate to around 15-20 million people dead, or 5% overall. Perhaps equivalent to a 'minor' nuclear war.

Alright, here's the 64k question: If large scale quarantines, travel restrictions & curfews (shelter in place orders) are enacted in an attempt to keep fatalities below 1 million, are the effects of economic destruction, and the resulting loss of liberty and freedom, a price too high? IOW, and not to be overly blunt, is the trade-off of 14-19 million people worth the cost of this nation's core concept?

Here's another way of looking at the situation. The direction we're heading is beginning to look like a gulag, with attendant deprivation & loss of dignity/liberty, while being ordered about and threatened by empowered bureaucrats. If there's a 5% chance I might die from DV, doesn't that mean there's a 95% I might escape? So, in this gulag, would you stay put on the 5% chance you'd be shot dead trying to escape, or bank your odds on the 95% that you might succeed?

From a global political standpoint, I would label a 'fvck it all' approach to what the UK is proposing as "let her rip". Will the US come to this same decision point? Perhaps we should have a national discussion on our collective fate. Some may argue it is selfish to endanger the 5% for our own personal comfort and material satisfaction, but what of the contra case? Aren't the 5% holding the other 95% hostage in that they must sacrifice their very lives and families, and potentially condemn future generations to a completely altered reality, for phantom, promised safety?
