I agree with you entirely that the media has politicized this and have been extremely irresponsible, and in some cases almost criminal in their behavior. That said, we will be OK, and the economy will weather this. Further, this has raised awareness, at least among some, of the dangers of letting other countries (e.g. China) take over production of things we should be making here. Our relationship with China is on the brink of a ‘recognized’ Cold War. We were already in a Cold War with them - but they were the only ones who knew it.
Nah. It may look and feel that way, but it ain’t. This is something beyond normal control, but will evaporate at some point. Granted, there will be some big shifts in conduct and policies for a while, but it is not even close to “Death of America.” If anything, it will generate an even stronger resurgence. Keep your chin up.

6 months ago there were riots in Hong Kong and then the virus. No more riots.

6 months ago the Democrats started to impeach the President and lost, then the virus hit...

The social-distancing approach has merit, for a brief window only. Getting it under control, and doing so quickly, will pay BIG dividends.
Personally, I beieve this virus has been weaponized by Xi, if not initially, now with his blame game. Hunker down and be vigilant; If we’re being played we’ll know it soon enough...
