Or perhaps it’s not really as contagious as claimed and there is another confounder that has not been accounted for in those that are symptomatic. Such as the fact that the coronavirus infects cells by attaching to ACE2 sites which are severely limited in persons on ACE inhibitors (blood pressure medication). Would make more sense because it is generally, but not absolute those 65+ are more likely to be on these types drugs, and to a lesser extent more middle aged folks and essentially 0 children. The percentages certainly seem to fall right in line with that theory. Remember the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.
