Mark Frilot took medicines to treat what he thought for several days was a case of the flu, but he just couldnt turn the corner.
His fever was spiking nightly. At one point, his wife, Heaven, found him on the edge of their tub talking to himself, delirious.
When he went to East Jefferson General Hospital on Thursday, the staff diagnosed him with double pneumonia and the new coronavirus. Since then the Kenner lawyer has been sedated and attached to a breathing machine as doctors help him fight the potentially deadly respiratory disease that has caused a worldwide pandemic.
Heaven Frilot she could hardly believe it. Her husband is 45, a construction litigator who is never, ever sick. But now, after seeing images of groups partying in New Orleans on Saturday despite the states request for people to practice social distancing, she is speaking up.
It could happen to anybody, Heaven Frilot said. Thats all Im trying to say.
When the Frilots checked Mark into the ER the next day, they were astounded when staffers informed him a flu test had come back negative. Heaven Frilot said she asked the hospital to get her husbands paperwork faxed over from the urgent care clinic. When the documents arrived, they showed he had been found negative for the flu there as well, despite the treatment plan he was given.
The hospital ran the test and, after several hours, it came back positive.
Heaven Frilot said the days since then have been a blur. Stricken with both COVID-19 and double pneumonia, Mark Frilot is in critical care and isolation. He consented to being given a paralytic drug, sedated and put on a ventilator, she said.
Essentially, the machine is breathing for him so his lungs can rest, Heaven Frilot said Sunday.

Kenner. Sounds like Looozianner.
Just wait until some Chinese, Democrat or Russian Posts that you can get it from a Mosquito Bite to really set in Panic.
Now, that's funny, right there...I don't care who you are.
“When I was young they called those machines ‘iron lungs’...and some people lived in them....”
I noted that they basically paralyzed him and put him in a coma to have him on a ventilator.
With the “iron lung” you were concious, I believe.
I wonder which is better for the patient.
Keep in mind a fever is your body’s natural defense to intruders. Many viruses are killed off by an elevated temperature. If you take a fever reducer your fighting against your body’s natural reaction. A high temp. (102+)happens when you’re dehydrated. Water absorbs and transfers heat, keep hydrated and lay off the aspirin and other fever reducers.
There but for the grace of God, go I.
Look at Uruguay.....
People you know and possibly you will get this at some point.
Or not......
Just curious, how did you and your family survive the influenza epidemic of 2017 that hospitalized over 959,000 and resulted in the deaths of over 61,000 citizens in this country?
I don't recall much ado about that let alone the closing of businesses, schools and senior centers such as the ones I frequent.

People have been buying Tylenol around here...its the American name for paracetamol, which is safer than ibuprofen, etc. It doesnt work as fast, unfortunately, IMHO, but it works and does less harm to the body.
Tylenol also has the property of working through different methods from NSAIDS such as Ibuprofen, so you can alternate between the two with good effect.
You could drop dead of a heart attack, a stroke, get hit by a car, crash your car, a meteor could drop on your head, you could be struck by lightening, and on and on and on.
It could happen to anybody
He thought it was only a case of the flu, bro.
There are only 100,000 ventilators in all the U. S.
Point still stands.
The market is not liking the reality of this virus
Thank God we have Trump cutting through all the Obamacare red tape.
Thank God our citizens are finally understanding how serious this is.
Unfortunately the 20 year old Spoiled Generation is taking their "3 week work from home' as an opportunity to fly around the country on cheap fares and spreading the virus everywhere.

It has been a consistent pattern that early in the onset of COVID, that the tests often do not detect the virus - and patients end up using up a bunch of tests before a positive occurs.
They have cancelled Spring Break.
Véran said in his daily briefing that the evolution and spread of the virus was rapid and real, but that 98% of those who had tested positive had recovered.
Plenty of boomers doing that too, unfortunately.
I had pneumonia twice in a twelve month period and neither time did I ignore my symptoms and require hospitalization.
I was at the emergency for St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Washington with my son. He was running a 104 degree temperature and coughing like crazy. I talked to them and wanted to know if he was going to be tested for the coronavirus. They said they would only test those who matched the profile they have been given. So, they did not test my son. My son ran a high fever for three more days and went to his clinic. They also did not do a coronavirus test. Now I am getting information that they did not ask for the test kits so they could send them to the CDC. So, how were they determining if people were sick with the virus? How many people slipped through the system and infected others?
