Mark Frilot took medicines to treat what he thought for several days was a case of the flu, but he just couldn’t turn the corner.
His fever was spiking nightly. At one point, his wife, Heaven, found him on the edge of their tub talking to himself, delirious.
When he went to East Jefferson General Hospital on Thursday, the staff diagnosed him with double pneumonia and the new coronavirus. Since then the Kenner lawyer has been sedated and attached to a breathing machine as doctors help him fight the potentially deadly respiratory disease that has caused a worldwide pandemic.
Heaven Frilot she could hardly believe it. Her husband is 45, a construction litigator who is “never, ever sick.” But now, after seeing images of groups partying in New Orleans on Saturday despite the state’s request for people to practice “social distancing,” she is speaking up.
“It could happen to anybody,” Heaven Frilot said. “That’s all I’m trying to say.”
When the Frilots checked Mark into the ER the next day, they were astounded when staffers informed him a flu test had come back negative. Heaven Frilot said she asked the hospital to get her husband’s paperwork faxed over from the urgent care clinic. When the documents arrived, they showed he had been found negative for the flu there as well, despite the treatment plan he was given.
The hospital ran the test and, after several hours, it came back positive.
Heaven Frilot said the days since then have been a blur. Stricken with both COVID-19 and double pneumonia, Mark Frilot is in critical care and isolation. He consented to being given a paralytic drug, sedated and put on a ventilator, she said.
Essentially, the machine is breathing for him so his lungs can rest, Heaven Frilot said Sunday.

It is an excellent example of what the CDC SHOULD be communicating.
I have frankly had my limit of “free advice”. I don’t need US Senators or Representatives telling me where I should eat. I have no reason to think anything of their opinions.
Authority should have to be earned, (unless you live in China). If the CDC wants to be treated as a competent authority, they need to start acting like one. They should be providing helpful information. It will add a level of credibility to the directives and decisions they feel compelled to announce.
People where I live have stripped off all the shelves of Tylenol and other flue medications.
Anecdotes are like rear ends. Everyone has one. They are worth exactly nothing except as a gaslighting tool in the current psywar assault against the American people.
Very possible, but even without Mardi Gras, NOLA's reputation as a tourist town makes it easy for many to overlook how busy it's port is with almost a fifth of its business coming from Asia.

They only tested people if they’d been to China or Italy or knew for sure they’d been exposed with someone already infected.
So basically no testing was taking place.
Out of all the COVID-19 cases now, how many are on a ventilator?
I haven't found that figure yet.
My son works as a janitor for a clothing store. We have a strong Asian community and we are between the Port of Tacoma and the Port of Seattle which does major business with Asia. You would think St. Francis Hospital was on top of the risk for COVID-19 and be doing testing like crazy.
It’s not my intention to ‘help’. It is, however, my intention to push back on EVERY instance of government intrusion into the lives of the American citizenry.
And, YES! There will be very ill people. There are very ill people, EVERY DAY in America. There are hundreds of veterans committing suicide. Hundreds of babies die in abortions. So far...dozens have died from this hoax.
There is not nearly the concern over these deaths as for the potential number of fatalities from this contrived pandemic.

Many have feared the virus would mutate (as the Spanish Flu did) and the effects would be seen in younger folks.

Like maybe lung cancer! A friend of mine had pneumonia and could shake it. It turns out he had lung cancer. Died 30 days later!
They’ve only reported 12 total as having recovered.

When it hits them personally. People are not going react till they get sick
