We should quarantine everyone who is threatened by the virus, spread it as quickly as possible to acquire herd immunity, then test and monitor.

there is no such thing as “herd immunity”. What is called herd immunity is simply a lack of exposure.

or you can acquire immunity the old-fashioned way - Vaccinations. But that takes time.
It can be summarized like this:
“Put the vulnerable in quarantine. Give everyone else the virus and those who don’t die will be immune. “
I don’t think it’s even worth bothering to reply to that.
Here’s my 2 cents I’ve posted elsewhere. ..
We’ve changed OUR behavior. ..but we are 69...we do not work, go to school, etc...and we can communicate via phone or computer with family for awhile...shutting down everything for Retirees (& immune compromised) is basically what’s going on.
back in the day, we’d have measles or chicken pox or whatever virus parties.
get it now to be immune to it.
Did it work? who knows...but who knew about shingles being related chicken pox back then.

Herd immunity is how the flu is eventually defeated every year. The spread only stops when enough people have acquired immunity so that it can longer find enough unaffected hosts.
