Is it time to panic? NO.
This document is trying to help you to understand the situation at hand and not to terrify you. We want to make sure you understand the facts and understand what is at stake. This is a Pearl Harbor moment for our country. We are facing a real threat and we need to face it with all of our resources. When people decry the seriousness of this moment they are steering our country off a cliff, we need everyone to understand that this is important and if we work together to slow the spread we will get through this as we are learning from Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, and China.
The effectiveness of our healthcare system to deal with a sudden tsunami of respiratory illness is what is at risk. If our healthcare system buckles under the strain of tens of thousands of patients then we could be looking at a catastrophe.

It’s fun watching the leftist trolls like griffin here pop up and sow discord.
Absolutely best article I have read to date.
Everyone should pass it on.
“Agree,,,It says DO NOT PANIC
And goes on to say the exact opposite opposite”
Kinda like saying “no offence, but...” before insulting someone.
But are not Italy’s deaths increased due in part to equipment availability and triage decisions associated with a fast blossoming of most aggrivated cases?
Steps to flatten the curves help to ease equipment and personnel demands.
Actually, I see the fun in it — but the dissemination of provably false statements is dangerous. Of course, If I were to suspect that there is a relative degree of severe narcissism in the posts of this particular troll, would you disagree?
Youre right. Thanks for pointing out those numbers. Only 3000 died during 9-11 and that only happened once. Im not so sure what we got so worked up about. Thanks for the clarity. Meanwhile -go study f(x)= e^x. When you actually get a handle on that-respond.
How is it non-sense?
The website has data from all over the world. So it is very useful in that regard.
Seriously? H1N1 is not aggressive respirationally? Notwithstanding your complete fabrication of a word (I think you would be better advised to say from a pulmonary standpoint), let me tell you something you arrogant child. I treated H1N1. I had a perpetually full ICU with proned and ventilated patients who were on deaths door. Many didn’t survive. It was FAR WORSE than what I am seeing now, and so you don’t get snarky in your expertise, at the same point 4 weeks into it with H1N1 as compared to this, the ICU was much worse.
To say that you know the relative aggressiveness of a disease, did you stand at beside day and night treating it? Do you have ANY EXPERTISE in the field? The only thing more overwhelming than your IGNORANCE is YOUR ARROGANCE. You are a stupid ass who is hurting patients with your unhinged statements. Sadly, you have the right to be stupid, but you do not have the right to disseminate such idiocy unchallenged.
This article revealed itself as fear mongering, albeit with some commonsense recommendations, when it promoted Wuhan as a novel virus for which the body has no antibodies.
So fear it! Except... All viruses mutate into new “novel” viruses, but the body’s immune system(s) develop defenses (usually rapidly).
Example- the H1N1 virus accumulated about 14 mutations/year, until, at about 10% mutations, it wrecked itself out of existence...

“The current incubation is thought to be from 3 - 14 days, “
You lost me right there doc, educating me with ‘thoughts’ and behind the curve CDC numbers.. I’ve been following this a while doc and have quite a bit of info from all preceding events and reports to draw upon.
I’m an aerospace engineer. Most of the guys that flunked out of aerospace engineering went on to become doctors in the medical community. LOL!
The 95 % not at risk can spread it and should follow guidelines.
You are an arrogant ass who like every engineer becomes wedded to ideas. I have given you the current information from the epidemiologists studying the disease. Your narcissism is breathtaking
Congratz Doc!
You are our first doc to win the Homer Award!!

According to the Johns Hopkins tracker that means the following:
Total infected globally (after about 4 months of nearly unhindered exposure among a population of 6.6 billion): 75,405
Total dead: 2,633 (mortality rate of 3.5%)
Total recovered: 7,037 (9.6% of all surviving infected)
Doesn't exactly strike me as the Black Death redux.
And in case you do not speak in scientific lingo — the current incubation period it “thought to be” coveys the theory based on the data. The data are clear and coming into focus. Your obvious frustration in that the data are moving away from your position must be unbearable to you.
Thanks. I’ve been following this a long time and yes! It’s been the best article I’ve seen.
Many are going to be saddened.
Instead of calling names, want to counter your H1N1 assertion of respirationally severity?
