This is why ‘we’ were encouraging people to prep 4-6 weeks ago. I began to set aside stuff the last week of January. Was pretty much done with everything by the 20th of February.

If more had done prepping earlier...the stores would have had time to restock.

I subscribe to a different take on this. Preppers know that when a disaster strikes it is too late. Prepping before a disaster does not damage the supply chain. Hoarding afterwards does.
