One of the nations top health officials leading the coronavirus response on Wednesday admitted it is a failing that individuals cannot easily get tested for the disease in the U.S.
The system is not really geared to what we need right now what you are asking for, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told a member of Congress during a House Oversight and Reform hearing Wednesday.
That is a failing. It is a failing. Let's admit it, he said.
Fauci made the remarks under questioning from Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) about why people who need testing havent been able to get it, including nurses who are taking care of coronavirus patients.
The idea of anybody getting it easily the way people in other countries are doing it, we're not set up for that. Do I think we should be? Yes, but we're not.

“It came out of Chine so how soon were it possible ID the virus then make a test kit for 320 million people?”
—
Only needed maybe a 100,000 at the most early on, even 50,000 would have been good. For hospitals, clinics and medical settings, not for everyone in the US.
The idea is to find the hotspots and get them under control, not to test every citizen.
A week or two ago, Pence said there would be 4 million in a week - or two weeks at the most. But the US has it’s hands full just trying to get to 100,000 tests.
“Have you heard of any mass layoffs?”
I said they are coming and they will be. Sports, travel, entertainment jobs are going to be decimated and it’s going to trickle down.
Dr. Anthony Fauci is a member of the White House coronavirus task force. If he’s a deep stater, we’re all screwed.
The problem is that the original test kits were defective
Are there thousands of people who want to be tested and are denied??
Have we heard from one or two or three people here, who have wanted to be tested and were denied?
WTH is Fauci talking about?
Oh, you must get referred by a Doc?
Where are the people affected who should be complaining?
Here’s your thousands denied testing:
Nearly 7,000 travelers in CA asked to monitor, isolate themselves: Federal officials suggested to more than 6,700 travelers who have returned to California after Feb. 2 from China, outside of Hubei Province, to monitor their health, stay home and limit interactions with others as much as possible, California Department of Public Health officials said.

As of mid-April 2010, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that about 59 million Americans contracted the H1N1 virus {Swine Flu}, 265,000 Americans were hospitalized as a result, and 18,000 Americans died.
Not a single game was canceled, and obama, the prince of peace and love and good health was never criticized.
Today's panic is designed by the media to drive the economy down so that President Trump will lose in November.
I hate the media, but I am pissed off at our own people that have surrendered to this panic attack, including many here on FR as well as Trump's team.
But .. But.. It’s all Trump’s fault how other Presidents ran their gigs. We all know that. Right? ;-)
Why is this the case? What was in place that made this scenario the reality, and why has the CDC not corrected this already?
The response he provided was an inadequate response in my opinion.
Thanks for posting!
Bookmarked for info & about the test kits.
Thank-you.
The major health care system we currently have in place is called ObamaCare. ObamaCare is clearly not adequately prepared to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Finally...a possible solution is offered. Seems everyone can recognize the problem, but very few offer any solutions. Thank you Cpt.
Yes, because everyone knows testing cures the virus.
This thing has been out there spreading for months. Testing isn’t going to make a meaningful change now, except to help make the mortality rate denominator bigger, thereby lowering the mortality rate.
So I guess that part will be good.
I wonder if it’s not even broader than how medical care is administered, but also extends to the supply chain that has been outsourced to China for decades. A high percentage of our medical supplies are no longer made in the USA, including basic pharmaceuticals and components to make the testing kits.
Could the failure possibly be with the CDC?
Do you have the number of deaths as a result?
I suspect that the lack of test kits is just one more example of what happens when our business and political elites decide that America no longer needs to be a manufacturing power.
That everything we use or need can simply be ordered from China.
Can’t die from Covid-19, if you never tested for it.
