A doctor who has been diagnosed with coronavirus has given an insight into the disease's daily symptoms on social media.

Dr. Yale Tung Chen, 35, from Spain, who caught the infection while he was treating patients at Hospital Universitario La Paz in Madrid, has been sharing his experiences battling the illness with the pubic.

The emergency physician has been sharing ultrasound scans of his lungs and listing his daily symptoms in an attempt to give the world a glimpse of how the illness takes over the body.

Taking to Twitter the doctor wrote: 'Day 1 after #COVID diagnosis. Sore throat, headache (strong!), Dry cough but not shortness of breath. No lung US abnormalities. Will keep a #POCUS track of my lungs. #coronavirus ⁦ @TomasVillen @ButterflyNetInc.'

You can set up a couple of baseline ultrasound scans with CT initial reads and then track the lessening or increasing of lung consolidations....the brighter the signal, the more fluid and inflammation of tissues...the darker the signal, the more clearing. Correlate that with symptom improvements and you can track with ultrasound....it’s more crude but can be done.

Well, you see, when discussing the virus, mentioning any characteristics is RACIST!

But when electing politicians or appointing judges or cabinet members, characteristics are the ONLY thing top be considered, because to not consider them is racist.

This Dr has written articles on Ultrasounds.

Can easily be found.

CT scans are clearly the GOld Standard for this disease..but he is using what he has as he is quarantined...

but to claim this guy is a liar and may not be a Dr is ridiculous when you can find that out in about 2 minutes.

“That data will shake out eventually”? C’mon doc. Population genetics is at the core of understanding any pandemic. Did you know that Europeans were once much more susceptible to bubonic plague than Asians until the susceptibility gene in Europeans was largely eliminated through repeated epidemics of plague through the eighteenth century? Have you noticed that the HIV incidence is far less throughout Asia compared to predominantly Caucasian and African populated countries? Also why have the Indian subcontinent and subSahara Africa been spared thus far?

Remember. Political correctness at its core is willful self delusion. Today such thinking can be lethal. Physicians have a duty to think critically and fearlessly. Otherwise and stay home read Yahoo assiduously and scan carefully for the wise utterances of Mr. and Mrs. Hanks, celebrities, politicians and their followers.

How a Dr on this site doesn’t know how to look up another Dr is beyond me.

Even I know how to do it

And ground glass capacities are not limited to this Covid induced pneumonia, but are apparently consistent with it.

FYI when cancer patients are receiving daily treatments, a DAILY CT is performed to ensure bodily and tissue alignment prior to turning on the ‘radiation’.

Ultrasound is a terrible way to look at lungs and is u likely to be useful. That throws the entire rest of the story into doubt. I don’t know any physician who uses ultrasound to evaluate lung disease

There's a very good chance that he doesn't have access to a CT diagnostic machine........From what I could find, there are only 4 hospitals in Spain that have them.

Teknon Hospital in Barcelona

Poviso Hospital in Vigo

FIV Center in Madrid

Clinica Estels in Alicante

i have seen hundreds of CT scans with ARDS and ground glass infiltrates. They look the same regardless of the causative agent. How many have you seen? What are your medical credentials? How many patients with sever respiratory disease flu or viral pneumonia have you cared for?

One may disagree with what he writes about...for pete's sake..dont claim he is not a Dr. Not everyone has access to the Gold Standard for this disease. I think it would be helpful if another tool could be used to help figure it out. I got stuck in the insurance won't pay for the GOld Standard so get a Ultrasound first type situation.

Since drivers don’t have to interact with people, I would think their risk is pretty low - while on the job.

So, at best, a 2% fatality rate. I am almost positive more people are infected, so the percentage of death is much lower.

You just hit upon a reason that you might want to develop another method.

Sure, everyone would love the Gold Standard. It isn’t always available..and insurance often doesnt even want to pay until you had the lessor standard first

true medicine does. it go for PC. I treat a black persons with hypertension with different medications than a white one - different drugs work better on different races. All i’m saying is in the beginning of the outbreak i’m not sure we have enough data to draw conclusions - that will come later

“... dunno if they were contagious”

Attended events on March 5,6,9,and 11. Diagnosed on the 12th. It seems they WERE already infected. (remember, almost a day ahead of us (13-16 hours)

And what, were they walking along and spotted a photo/Corona Virus testing booth and decided sure why not I’ve got a quarter or were they already symptomatic so they got tested?
