Runs on supplies
vanity | 03-12-20 | self

Is anyone seeing runs on supplies like toilet paper, bleach, etc.?

I was at the grocery store yesterday the TP aisle was pretty much cleared out. Most household cleaning supplies were available although bleach was limited.

Believe it or not hand soap/sanitizer was available in limited quantities.

Rest of groceries looked to be good.

We’ve got dual purpose booze. You can drink it, and kill WuFlu with it.

We ain’t trading it.

Especially if we have to shelter in place. :-)

I think it’s about isolation. If I have enough TP I don’t need to leave the house and get exposed to germs.

I’m thinking of investing in tulips. They might be hoarded next. :)

No... just went to Dollar General for bread, milk and a new broom and there was plenty of everything. So I got a pack of toilet paper since I was getting low. I think the shortages are more likely to be in liberal areas.

Now, let the weatherman announce a tropical depression on the way and then the shelves will clear...

I haven’t heard that CV causes any more frequent bowel movements than not. It’s a respiratory illness not the stomach flu. What am I missing with this run on TP?

*****

I guess there's a concern about being able to keep the backside clean.....maybe Venezuela is on people's mind.

Everyone is hoarding toilet paper because of media stories about everyone hoarding toilet paper.

Went to my local Big Y supermarket on Tuesday night.

Shelves were jam-packed full. No shortages of anything that I could tell. Enough toilet paper to dry up a small lake.

Just not seeing the panic in these parts (NYC suburban area).

A neighbor in Ventura texted me yesterday that she went to 3 stores and no TP. I told her there is a janitorial supply house right down the road from her hubby’s shop/biz that I’m sure has plenty but they’ll have to buy a case. lol For years I bought my tp by the commercial case. I don’t do that anymore but I still buy at least 10 double roll 12 packs at a time so I’m stocked.

TP shortage makes perfect sense to me. Most people just pick some up every couple of regular weekly supermarket trips.

But as the guv has been advising people for weeks they are stocking up for potentially being homebound for a few weeks.

That has led to some cleared out shelves for TP, which in turn makes people think they’d better stock up some more on—as it looks like one of the critical items that may become scarce.

Possible quarantine.

You can go without food but not TP, apparently...

Yes, yes.

Hurry and rush down to all stores and buy up boat loads.

You are going to need everything and lots of it.

Hell, a couple of more posts by me like this and I may just cure the national debt....

All I'm seeing is that people suck at prepping! Having been born & raised in Camille/Katrina country I always have a short supply of necessities on hand.... liquor, crackers, pet food. Got all I need for a good month. I can improvise the rest.
Good luck to all & God bless!

It’s an election year, soon there will be plenty of ‘toilet paper,’ albeit a bit scratchy, coming in the mail every day.

I wonder if they know what to do with that flour and if they have the tools to convert into usable goods. Ehhhhh, probably not.

AND what are they going to do about weevils and storage? I bet they do not have a clue and in 3 months it will not even be usable.
