Sports events across the globe continue to feel the impact of the coronavirus. The disruption has extended to the local sports scene as well.
NCAA Tournament games in Ohio wont have spectators The governor of Ohio Mike DeWine said the state will issue an order that NCAA Tournament games in Ohio, including the First Four round in Dayton, will be played without fans in attendance.

How many cases are there in Ohio?
Four.
It’ll look like every Cleveland State Vikings home game. No fans.
So why are the refs allowed to attend? What about the commentators/play-by-play? How did the teams get there? Plane/bus? Let them do it by video/internet remotely...they could do Smash Bros instead.
Time to break out the Jonathan Swift modest proposal.
No fans for a fake made up crisis. The dems and media are desperate to get rid of Trump.
I have tickets for the tournament in Spokane WA - I expect this to be played w/o fans as well :(
I bought my tickets directly from the NCAA, but folks who bought via resale my get hosed.
NCAA should move it to a “safe” site outside Ohio.
Like I said, Tar Heel fans should be glad this is the year their team decided to suck.
We should be concerned about public health threats. However, have we crossed a line from concern and common sense precautions, to hysteria?
Oh, man. We’re all gonna die. We better shut down the entire country and declare martial law. There is no other way!
Ahhhhhhhh!
Will this edict apply to Cavaliers games, or professional sports? Indians and Reds baseball starting soon?
Does a state governor even really have authority to ban fans from a sports event?
We are right in the middle of this now.
I remember two things about Cleveland State B’ball: made it to the round of 16 and lost to David Robinson’s Navy team, and Rollie Massamimio ended his career there.
{sigh}
“Glory Days”
This is absurd (at best). Do they shut down sports attendance when we have a particularly bad year for Flu or even Pneumonia? No.
When the biggest health experts in the world are still saying panic is NOT warranted - and basically to exercise common sense on hygiene (handwashing) and not picking your nose and eating it... WHY the panic?
It’s all, I believe, a coordinated effort to not “let a good crisis go to waste”.
One of Trump’s many achievements is enabling a soaring stock market and record unemployment (in other words - a roaring economy). Along comes this virus - covered up by China until it got a good foothold in spreading. Then the world comes unhinged panic over something that is really no more dangerous than a solid cold - indeed, the Coronavirus (historically) is one of the causes of the common cold. But the world treats this as if it were the zombie apocalypse . And bingo - attack the US economy by any means possible.
I do not like the idea of government restricting my movement. It’s unconstitutional. I don’t need a nanny state. And I am completely able of making my own decisions and living or dying with the consequences.
Coronavirus - ie: a good common cold. For all but those with seriously compromised immune systems, those with serious respiratory or cardiac issues - this is nothing more than a new strain of the bug that causes the common cold. And for the most part, it is no more dangerous.
You are far more likely to die from the common cold, the flu, or other common illness than you are from COVID-19.
My Aztecs should be a #2 in the West, but it looks like the bucket list item will have to get crossed off another year...
