Every time you see a headline like this accompanied by confident-sounding pronouncements, think “the check is in the mail”. Some of them are cash calls for more government or philanthropic funding. Some are just PR releases justifying current funding. The only time you’ll know that something is truly impending, is when the announcement is made that the FDA has approved the drug (typically after costly human trials have been completed).
