The World Health Organization said Wednesday the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and that has infected more than 121,000 people around the world has become a pandemic. Until now, the WHO has characterized the illness, which broke out in Wuhan, China, late last year, as a series of epidemics. An outbreak is deemed to have become a pandemic when it has spread from human-to-human on several continents. The agency said the number of cases outside China has increased tenfold and the number of countries affected has tripled. "We expect to see the number of cases, the number of deaths. And the number of affected countries, climb, even higher. WHO has been assessing this outbreak around the clock," WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters. "And we're deeply concerned. Most by the alarming levels of spread and severity. And by the alarming levels of inaction."

Wow, late to the party. But lets look at the facts. The Maldives have it. Iceland has 85 cases. Martinique has it. The Dominican republic has it. Tasmania has it. Sri Lanka has it. The Faroe Islands have it. There is no safe place on earth without this virus. Any country without the virus is a country without the test kits. I am so proud of Captain Obvious helping the WHO come to this conclusion before nobody else.

I believe everyone alive during that time got the virus, most didn’t get sick.

As of March 10, 2020, there are at least 1,037 confirmed and presumptive cases in the U.S., including 31 deaths.By March 11, 2020, diagnosed cases in the U.S. exceeded 1,000. Eighteen of the deaths were in Washington state, with 13 of them at a nursing home in WA.

One of the most obvious cases of liberal manipulation of the media I’ve ever seen. The WHO waits to make their “big call” until it can do the most damage to the US markets which are falling from other media hits. Talk about piling on to get Trump!
First, its not news. Second the panic they are pushing is not consistent with the infection rate spread in both China and South Korea which are flattening as their recovery rate increases.
The Axios article from the doctor that briefed the Congress that 70 to 100 million people in the US could be infected is also panicking people for no good reason. The comment was in the context of what would happen if we did nothing like Iran. We are using aggressive social separation in areas most affected and will extend this over time. Both China and South Korea implemented aggressive measures that prevented anything close to even 1 million people getting infected in those countries.
