DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) Dayton Police and the University of Dayton Police responded to Lowes Street in the South Student neighborhood on reports of a massive crowd.
University officials said the crowd gathered around 11 p.m. and began throwing objects and jumping on cars. Students said they were celebrating the cancellation of classes due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Police in riot gear fired several rounds of paintball guns and pepper balls into the crowd. Units from across the city were also called in to help after verbal orders to disperse were ignored. University Officials said at least one person was hurt by a thrown bottle.

Ha! I needed a good laugh but couldve done without choking on coffee!
With UD basketball doing great (ranked #3 in the country) the reaction to every NCAA win should be interesting.
white frat boys. The UD ghetto (a name the city hates) has calmed down considerably since its heyday as the university bought up a lot of the notorius off campus housing. The real question is: how many couches were burned in the street.

Couch burning, isnt that the province of WVA University students?
Then some of these dopey kids are going to find out that it will take an extra semester to finish their degree.
OHIO PING!
Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.

You must think that the University Officials and the Police Officials cared what they[the students] did. Unless it was to them. People like these will be running the Country soon.
If tuition was free there would be no rioting because they wouldn’t bother to go to classes at all. It would be 24/7 partying on our dime.
UD Still partying at 8:30am. Lots of beer cans and broken bottles (wth) in the streets
If my kid was of collage age the LAST place on earth I would send them would be off to some commie Collage... Lots of Folks are making a very good living in the trades nowadays..
People go to college and learn useful stuff, too. My oldest son graduated from our local state university branch, and he has an excellent job in advertising. Daughter is getting a degree in math.
That’s a lot of people...
Back in 1987 I would have been pissed off as well if i was told to leave the “Happy Valley” of UMass Amherst and go back to the real world.
The “real world” had become totally alien to me after a while....Took a long time to re-adjust to it..
My Son went to the local comunnity college. He seems to be doing well..
As I look back over my 76 years of life I can't think of a thing that going to college could done for me.. I've had a good life, been almost everywhere, done a lot of interesting stuff.. I guess they could have taught me how to spell... That would have been nice.. :)
As a UD graduate reading this is no shock at all LOL.
Even with all of the changes in housing and cosmetic clean up, the Ghetto is still the Ghetto.
Likely PLENTY of drunk white girls in the crowd too...UD was always an equal opportunity party school.
Stunts like this should be a reason to kick them out.
White Riot
I wanna riot
White Riot
A riot of my own!
-The Clash
UMass 1987...passed out girls on the staircases, passed out girls on the sidewalks, the kitchen floor, in the bushes..drunk girls grabbing me and making out, shitfaced girls being led upstairs to the bedrooms.
NOBODY CARES
Yea... if i ever had a daughter...and i feel it doesn’t matter how “good” they are....well i’ve already seen it all i would be VERY concerned about sending her of to one of these schools..
it was absolutely ridiculous.
Imaging these “women”, tens of thousands of them every week waking up on sat or sun morning wondering WTF?
“...they were celebrating the cancellation of classes due to the coronavirus outbreak.”
The article reminds one of the scene from 2001 A Space Odyssey, where the chimps are pounding the ground and shouting and picking up sticks and smacking the ground with them as they jump and lung. Is there something relating to IQ in this?
I just talked to a UD student who works at my company. His reaction was “what did they expect when they declared ‘early Spring break’?”
