I watched this. So tragic. SW didn’t do their job, took the word of his mom and the step dad. Two weeks after he died, same thing happened to another child in the same county.

And in cases like this, it has been that way since at least as far back as the sixties.

I watched this Netflix series, excellent. But I must say, and I am not passing blame, but the principal of this school told the teacher to not get involved. She called children’s services multiple times. Gabriel was not in school for two weeks, when he returned his badly beaten body was healing but she could tell it had to have been horrific. Had I been her, I would have put him in my car, taken him to a hospital and if I lost my job. I would have sued the school district. Gabriel would be a live today. A terrible miscalculation to trust lazy, liberal social workers.

But as terrible as Gabriel’s life was, he was treated like a gem in comparison to six year old Isaiah Torres, in Arkansas. An absolute demonic story which is still unfolding in a mistrial. Another child who had a brutal life and brutal death, which children’s service did not do their job. I honestly could easily put a gun to these parents head and gleefully pull the trigger, I would feel blessed if I could do so.

Just look at the Sandusky case at Penn State. A football coach witnessed Sandusky having sex with a child in the shower. He doesn't try to stop it. He doesn't even call the police. Instead that night he tells Paterno. Paterno then calls his two superiors. At this point at least four adults know about this incident and not a single one inquires into the well being of the child. They never inquired into the identity of the child. None of those adults don't care if the child is dead or alive. All they cared about was how they should handle the situation.

I just don't get it.

As an interested grandparent, I'd drop a very broad hint about the consequences of harm coming to the child if her gambit succeeds.

"My grandchild, my rules. And "the law" doesn't figure in anywhere there..."

Never will understand why somebody would voluntarily watch a documentary of such disgusting abuse.

Exactly.

I think documentaries like that take peoples' minds off what they should have been doing about 15 seconds after the horror was revealed.

I’m spinning all mental gears to figure out how to inflict as much financial, mental, and physical pain as possible...without going to jail.

Suggestions appreciated.

“In what has been described by US media as an unprecedented move, the four social workers involved were charged with criminal negligence in the case. “

Should be charged as accessories/accomplices...

My son went thru something similar with his ex. I also had an encounter with CPS over 25 years ago in California. They have so much power it’s incredible. They were allowed by the school to interview my daughters, ages 5 and 9, separately and alone about their brother, all without parental notice or permission. And apparently that’s perfectly legal in the school system. This was after we took him out of public school to homeschool him, which nobody was doing in the state in the mid 90s. CPS needs to be overhauled entirely IMO.

Does he have a lawyer? They tell their clients to do nothing retaliatory or have any communication with the ex because they will handle it. Of course, that’s expensive. At the end my son owed his attorney over $10,000. Everything came to a screeching halt when the step-father, who was behind all of this, suddenly ended up in the loony bin. Turns out he was bipolar and had gone off his meds! He lost his job, his wife left him for a few months, and he was evicted. Karma at it’s finest, lol.

He does have a lawyer and he’s down $5K already.

It’s a sick game.
